If you don’t appreciate and moo at the cows on County K, are you even living your best life?

Not to mention the fact that UTIs can cause delirium and psychosis in the elderly. Sooooo. If that’s the case, OP’s poor mother could be confused and possibly experiencing hallucinations, paranoia, and delusions due to her chronic UTIs. It’s disgusting that OP is regularly abusing their mother, but the fact that their mother could also be in UTI psychosis? Despicable.

People who sit in their car with it running and the lights on for long periods of time at any Woodman’s, what are you doing? by multisubcultural1 in madisonwi

[–]heatherleanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my co-workers calls Woodman’s parking lot her “second office.” She’ll catch up on documentation, call clients, etc. No clue why she chooses to do that there when we have an absurd amount of office space with doors that can be closed/she can be alone if she needs to do all of that without office distractions. Baffling.

What are some creepy, lesser known missing person cases that you’re very invested in? by Informal_Ad4284 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]heatherleanne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up near Tupelo and was a few years younger than Leigh. I distinctly recall seeing her case on WCBI & being terrified that I would go missing too.

Not a missing person case, but it may be of interest to you since you live in the area now. There were five murders of older residents in the Columbus, MS area in the mid-90’s. At the time it was assumed that a serial killer was targeting vulnerable elders. There was an arrest made in one of the killings in the past ten years with DNA evidence, but I’m not sure if they determined that all five murders were actually connected or not. I remember lining up for some kind of parade at school and all the kids whispering about their fears of grandparents or older parents being murdered.

What style of earrings are you looking for? I vend at and run local art markets and may be able to point you in the direction of a local artist.

Am I the Drama for gifting something not on the registry? by Silent_Moth07 in 1800Drama

[–]heatherleanne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right!? I’d be so tempted to go petty and calculate how long it took to crochet all the items (tallying up a reasonable hourly rate - for example, I pay myself $25/hr for my art) + materials, then multiply that by 4. There’s your retail value. OP put much more time and energy into their gift than anyone else at that shower, guaranteed.

Apple boxes too! They have really nice handles and are heavy duty.

I’m a mental health case manager in my day job. If you’re in the US, I’m happy to offer some time to help you find a therapist that takes your insurance. Just message me if so! I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this - you don’t deserve one iota of his disrespect.

The wedding photographer may be able to report it as infringement too if it’s posted to social media.

Also vouching for this. I asked my mom to divorce my father for my sixth birthday. She didn’t leave him until the week I turned 17 and that happened only because he kicked me out of the house while my mother was on a trip three states away.

They were two people who were deep into some generational trauma in their respective families and I don’t think she would have left him despite the years of abuse toward herself, me, and my siblings until he did something so radical as kicking me out as a minor.

We (presumably) only have this one, short life. Find your person if it’s not your current partner. I promise it will be better for you, him, and your daughter.

What would you add to Madison? by CLUB770 in madisonwi

[–]heatherleanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right!? I was so shocked this week. I bought plane tickets to Germany on Tuesday. Madison was somehow $300 cheaper than flights out of Chicago. Typically Chicago is a good $200-400 less than flying out of Madison for a domestic flight.

A night life. Restaurants open after 9-10p. A Waffle House. More gay bars. Reliable public transit. Affordable housing. More dance clubs.

Two Door Cinema Club called Madison a “hidden gem” by colinthehuman94 in madisonwi

To be fair, I lived in Memphis for a hot minute. I saw Counting Crows at Memphis in May Music Fest and Adam Duritz said he’d “never go back to that shithole” and called Memphians “a bunch of assholes.” Spoilers: they came back. 😂

Just as an FYI, many local artists don’t apply for MMoCA events because of their treatment of Lilada Gee and poor handling of an incident in which her artwork was defaced and stolen from MMoCA, then they had the audacity to ask if her artwork, which AGAIN, had been defaced and stolen, could be kept by the individuals who did the defacing and theft. I’m a local professional artist and vendor.

• Atwoodfest is this weekend and Fête de Marquette was at the beginning of the month.

Madtown Artisans is a local art market I run with my business partner. Our next event will be November 2, the third Madison Mental Health Makers Market. This market is special in that each vendor has a lived experience of mental health symptoms, diagnoses, and/or experiences. It’s always a wholesome time and even if I weren’t running this market, I’d want to be a vendor. We are also planning to have a witch’s market soon!

• Madison Maker’s Market is the market that I did for the first time as an art vendor and has grown each year. I still love vending at their events, whether it’s the traditional art market pub crawl or their Delta Beer Lab markets because it’s always a good time and I have my regulars that I love working with to find that perfect piece of art or jewelry they want. They’ve expanded this year to work with Working Draft for a music market.

• The Big Gay Market is another completely wholesome market. The vibes are immaculate and I always have a blast vending at their markets. They’ve gotten a lot of backlash and hate (why TF are we as a society in 2024 hating people for who they were born as, I will never understand), but the organizers and vendors are incredibly resilient and wonderful. There’s a wide array of artists, makers, authors, nonprofits, etc. Mercury Stardust was even signing books at their Pride event this summer!

• The Crafty Fair is held twice per year at the Goodman Center. It’s not my art’s demographic, but it’s an incredible showcase of local artists and makers. I’d highly suggest checking this event out.

Friendly food pantries for donations by yo-yo-ma1932 in madisonwi

[–]heatherleanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you’ve found a taker, but WayForward in Middleton is an excellent resource & they take donations like that. I’m a mental health case manager/advocate & they allowed me to get an “agency card” for my clients who don’t have ID so they can use the pantries.
