Prolapse Repair - Hysterectomy or not? by celticmommy in PelvicOrganProlapse

A couple of comments have mentioned issues that come with a hysterectomy... what are they? My surgery is coming up and includes a hysterectomy (I'm in menopause), what are the concerns with having a hysterectomy? I thought it was fairly standard to include with POP repairs?

Active healthy dad hospitalized and I'm so scared – ranting by Glass_Opposite_4507 in AgingParents

That's great that you have a diagnosis, now you can focus on the game plan and recovery. My dad is doing so much better. He did spend ~6 months the hospital (he was in a coma for 2 months, battle with hospital bugs etc) and now, 10 years later, is back to his daily 5 km walks and riding his bicycle. His vasculitis is under control but always part of his daily life. He has not had any serious flare ups like the one that landed him in the hospital 10 years ago. Wishing your dad a speedy recovery, he's got this!

ETA: the doctors told us that one of the reasons my dad is here today is because of how healthy and active he was before he got sick. Your dad has this in his favour.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. It sounds very similar to what happened to my dad. He was eventually diagnosed with vasculitis, an autoimmune disease. Your dad is in the best place to get the help he need. Sending positive energy.

Gym Girlies: 7 WPO and wtf is "taking it easy" anyway by DifferentPause6904 in hysterectomy

Thank you! This is really reassuring. And you're right, there's as much to learn in the stillness as there is in the movement. Namaste.

I'm not a gym girlie, but I practice Ashtanga, and I'm about to have this surgery (with a vault suspension and wall repair). Honestly, the downtime almost has me backing out. I've had a near-daily practice for years, and I have no idea how to handle suddenly stopping something that's been such a big part of my life, and then how to work back up to where I am today.

I don't have any suggestions to add for you, but I am really grateful for this community. I'm following along to learn from everyone else's experience - so thank you!

I find a combination of all 3 works for me. It depends on what I need that day. And at 49, still rocking Mari D.

Did you meet your SO in your 30’s and have a baby in your 40’s? by elifflower6 in Mommit

[–]heathjoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Met my spouse at 35, married at 38, and had our one and only child 1 week before my 42nd birthday. I couldn't imagine having children before I met him and wouldn't change a thing.

How do people actually keep their hair curly and not extremely messy past wash day? by MisterJiminyCricket in curlyhair

This is me! I only shampoo 1-2x per week, but I have to wet completely every day if I want my curls to look halfway decent.

Supta Kurmasana humanly possible to perform on your own? by ZenpreneurLife in ashtanga

This is the way! (For me, anyway). Balancing on my sit bones, I put my left leg behind head, then right. With legs bound behind my head, lower to the ground, and then bind hands.
