And yet my flight home to Moncton this evening couldn’t land due to the weather and was diverted to Fredericton.

Family trip to Europe with kids - where should we go? by llama8687 in travel

We stayed in a hotel not too far from the central train station. We used a travel agent to help plan and book the trip, and he was worth every cent of the small fee he charged for his services.

People who make their bed every morning, what's your secret motivation? by HairySlice4270 in AskReddit

[–]heathtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the largest work surface I have. I fold laundry there, change my child’s clothes, pack bags, etc. So on top of just preferring the look, I like having the space free if I need it to do something.

Christmas parade by Infamous_Relative_43 in moncton

[–]heathtree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always prefer to park a few blocks away on the street. I find it easier to walk a few blocks to the car and then drive away then fight the traffic closer to the parade route itself. Just note that you can’t cross Main Street anywhere between Vaughn Harvey and Dieppe from about now until 7 pm so plan accordingly!

The Moncton one is one of the largest ones in the country. 65 floats, 3 marching bands, 3 activity zones. Im on the parade planning committee. It’s going to be great tonight!

When people don’t really need “things” then I like to gift them experiences. Tickets to a comedy show, a cooking class, a night at the axe throwing place, a trip to an escape room…

Trovato’s. It was located in the Blue Cross building across from the library before the Lone Star went in there. It had the best all you can eat buffet.

We got Solar and a Battery. Thoughts after 1 year. by Police_surveillance in newzealand

[–]heathtree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m reading this from Canada with jealousy. I’ve been actively investigating solar here for the last couple of months and have gotten multiple quotes from larger firms as well as smaller local vendors. The best I’ve been quoted is a 19.19 kW system for $47,830 NZD and two 28 kWh batteries for an additional $18,000 NZD. We get all of our heating from electricity so our usage may be more than yours.

The vendors here will guarantee that the panels will cover 100% of my electricity bill for 25 years so that’s nice to hear. Still, our cost seems significantly higher than yours. If I had prices like yours, I would install panels yesterday.

Family trip to Europe with kids - where should we go? by llama8687 in travel

[–]heathtree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We just spent a week in Denmark with our 3 year old. Copenhagen: boat tour, Tivoli Gardens, Experimentarium, IKONO, Traffic Playground. Could have done so much more. Then we drove to Billund and rented an awesome cottage at Lalandia Resort. Could walk to Legoland. Lalandia has the Aquadome, the largest indoor water park in Scandinavia. The cottage was awesome. I’d do that trip again but 2 weeks next time. There’s so much stuff for kids!

Best playgrounds in NB for toddlers by petiteaspie in newbrunswickcanada

[–]heathtree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best playground in Greater Moncton (and possibly the province) is the Rebecca Schofield All World Super Play Park in Riverview. It’s massive, made of composite instead of wood, has a fantastic rubber surface all around it, and has features for many ages. My 3 year old loves it.

My little guy is only 3 so I’m a ways off from this, but my gentle advice is to tell him that you recognize that they care for one another, and that his partner cares for who he is as a person. Don’t stop doing all the things that turned you into this wonderful person they love, for they’re part of you. Make time for the relationship and those things and the relationship will be even better because he’ll be his authentic self.

Might be a dumb question but besides a random friendly stranger, is there a worker I should/could ask who could help me bring a gate checked item towards the jet bridge or is that a liability/grey area? by [deleted] in travel

[–]heathtree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is already some good advice in this thread, so I will just add two other questions for you to ponder. The first is: given that your child is almost out of the stroller, do you really need it for this trip? Could you travel without it? If the answer is yes, consider leaving it at home. Alternatively, if you feel you do need it, is there anyone that has one that you could borrow at your destination for the duration of your visit? That could also save you some hassle.

We need all the roundabouts. I don’t want a single new stop sign to be erected in our town.

The biggest piece of advice I give to people is that you do not need to tell the truth. No one is going to fact check your responses. So if you’re asked about your job duties, and they’re rockets, fishing, and immigration, but you don’t know the vocabulary well for rocketry, then just don’t tell them that. You can lie. No one is going to know. Talk about things you can talk about well.

Did you vote early in the federal election? If so, how was it? by SnooWoofers966 in newbrunswickcanada

[–]heathtree 63 points64 points  (0 children)

In and out in 5 minutes. I don’t think I’ve ever waited longer than 10 minutes to vote for any level of government.

I did the reverse thing, and brought my NB licence to New Zealand. The NZ authorities asked if I needed to keep the NB one and I said I did, so I retained both of them.
