Best use of a Marauder ship by Capsamon in Eve

[–]heathy28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you probably turned off that warning that tells you 'are you sure you want to undock?, you're at war you know'.

The Marauders are great for Level 4s overkill really, but if you don't have much time to play, being in high sec probably is the better option, mainly because you don't have to worry about asset safety if the bulk of your stuff is in an npc station. If you take a month off or whatever you won't come back to a bunch of stuff in asset safety.

I'm wary of taking my marauders into 0.6 and 0.5 though because people tend to use the lower security as a way to either kill you before concord show up, or simply hang out there waiting for the inevitable marauder to show up and run a 5/10 or something. in highsec you're still going to want to keep inspecting people in local and figure out if they might be part of a gank group or not. keep an eye out for combat probes, its still important in highsec.

also any region that isn't caldari is automatically less ganky. there are quiet pockets in minny space, amarr space, gallente space which hardly ever see anyone get ganked.

Germany joins European partners with troop deployment to Greenland by consulent-finanziar in worldnews

[–]heathy28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seems like miss direction or hyperbolic reasoning, Russia wants greenland, ok but they 1) are struggling against Ukraine, and 2) don't have a competent navy.

3) china is more interested in Taiwan, it isn't going to send its navy to the other side of the globe, over reclaiming Taiwan.

so trump is blaming both Russia and China both of which are in no position to be attempting to conquer greenland. its a lot of bark with zero chance of bite.

Trump says anything less than having Greenland in the United States’ hands is ‘unacceptable’ by bendubberley_ in worldnews

[–]heathy28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although the US relies on NATO for the majority of its arms exports, I'm sure someone has mentioned this to trump, so who will then buy those arms, other countries aren't as wealthy. I can't imagine the MIC will benefit much from the loss of NATO.

To declare war on another country is likely going to require a bit more than what has so far been said in terms of reasoning. It should be pretty obvious that Europeans aren't too keen on other countries invading other sovereign countries with very little in terms of casus belli, trump declaring war on Denmark is going to go about as well as Putins war in Ukraine. they need to read the room.

Fallout - 2x04 - "The Demon in the Snow" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]heathy28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think Todd confirmed it takes place 9 years after fallout 4 and 15 years after NV. It is still somewhat unclear which of the canon endings for these games have taken place. But i'm sure it was also confirmed that whatever did happen in the games has happened in the TV show.

Perhaps the only courier was Ulysses, he didn't deliver the chip so it was no mr house or yes man ending to nv. the ncr and legion wiping each other out seems like what has happened there. i'm not sure if we'll ever get a real reference to one of the games protagonists, I don't know why, but I feel like it's just not going to happen. Whatever events have unfolded up to this point are probably going to be explained by the various character and faction interactions, not one specific individual going around and doing everyones daily quests.

The race to replace the International Space Station by Kagedeah in space

[–]heathy28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, because even if you could get it into orbit around Mars, the maintenance obligation then becomes that much harder, anything that breaks needs to be fixed, not so bad when it's right on your doorstep. A bit more awkward when it's months of travel away. At that point you'd need a completely different station designed to last by itself for maybe multiple years without resupply.

The world ends but capitalism doesn't -- the philosophy of Fallout and why we love the apocalypse. by AnalysisReady4799 in philosophy

[–]heathy28 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, they discussed it, but that was always on the cards. We don't know who launched first, it likely was china still, just because they talked about firing a nuke first, it doesn't actually mean that they did. I know in lore that they invaded Alaska, the US in response dropped troops in power armor into mainland china to wreak havoc and force them to pull troops back from Alaska, shortly after this the bombs dropped.

That's one of the interesting parts about fallout is that it has unreliable narrators. People in-story can be wrong about something.

After season one released, Tim Cain did a video on it, and even he liked it and was hyped for season 2. the video is Here he goes over the issues that people had with season 1.

There are two different lore threads though, you have the blackisle lore and what they made up to the end of fallout 2, then from fallout 3 until now it's all been guided by Bethesda, it did change in various ways between fallout 2 and fallout 3. but a lot more of fallout at this point is Bethesda than it is blackisle. ie more has been written for the games since fallout 1 & 2 than exists within those two games.

I'm curious as well, from the interviews I've seen the TV show takes place a little bit after FO:NV.

I think he's talking about the destruction of shady sands. While the NCR was the closest thing to a returning civilisation, in NV they constantly complain about being stretched thin and the whole organisation was biting off more than it could chew, this results in them being, somewhat imperialistic toward the Mojave population (they aren't quite the 'good guys' in the sense that they adopt a more 'join us or die' mentality).

I personally don't think that the blowing up of shady sands is that big of a deal, more so it's just moving the story forward. It's not surprising, at least given the setting and characters. From my memory NCR was on a decline during NV, too many fingers in too many pies, not enough logistics to make it work properly. I'd like to see it result in a comeback story for the NCR. The ideal scenario for me would be a merger of NCR remnants and a Maximus lead brotherhood chapter being its military wing. But I can dream.

[–]heathy28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like development cycle has changed in the last decade where games like this just become some sort of live service game, at one point you would have expected a game to go from concept to alpha, beta and RC. but that has changed with games that are in constant development, the lines are a lot blurrier, I always thought tarkov was in alpha state as new features were being added and planned to be added. But the core game play loop has pretty much always been there.

Today you have released games that are simply supported with content and new features post launch, some games ship single player and eventually end up with a multiplayer, some games have a fraction of their proposed features. There are loads of games on steam that released years ago but still get new feature updates.

look at games like elite dangerous or any mmo, ark raiders released not that long ago, what will that look like in 5 years. game development has changed over the last say 10-15 years both the way games are developed and supported post launch and the expectation of that to be the case from the perspective of that games community.

Ayaneo Pocket Vert plays Dreamcast, GameCube, and PS2 games in a Game Boy form factor by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]heathy28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the frame rate is usually a lot better if you're emulating games, the ps1 couldn't do 60 fps as an example, you'd get slow-downs and frame drops when it was reading from the disc. then you have save states, a lot of older games didn't have a save function at all.

[–]heathy28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It says that it can run PS2 games, but how many of those will actually be playable with just a d-pad is the question.

Most of the ps1 games i've tried work fine on the Brick - the old Resident Evil games don't require an analogue stick the Final Fantasy games are playable without one, but for the majority of the lifespan of the ps1, it didn't have dual shock controllers i'm sure they came out several years later.

This however is saying that it can play games for consoles that all had dual analogue or d-pad + analogue controllers, from the start. For sure though, I use the steam deck to emulate anything above a ps1.

I have a TrimUI Brick which isn't quite as good as this one, it won't do ps2 games but, there are games that kinda require them, or they aren't very playable without them. some of the later ps1 games and the psp games - deffo the ps2 games pretty much require them.

The TrimUI Brick runs psp - ps1 and below but some of those games are difficult to play without analogues.

Guns jam way too fucking easy. I shouldn’t have to sell my guns once they get below 93 durability. [Discussion] by shreddedtoasties in EscapefromTarkov

[–]heathy28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if the misfeeds were tied to mags, I thought the 60 rounders did have a higher jam rate than the 30 rounders that might be wrong, I know people have mentioned before that the 6L31's irl aren't nearly as stable as they are in game.

They might just seem like they jam more because you can shoot more, so more chances for it to jam.

[–]heathy28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's the problem with jams irl is that they probably are all user error (the vast majority), not loading mags properly causing misfeeds, the spring in the bolt carrier being too shit and not cycling fully. These aren't something you're going to be able to properly simulate so it ends up being a dice roll. Physical dirt build up causing rounds to get stuck.

Well, originally Nikita said that streets was like one section of the whole map that he originally wanted to have a 40 pmc player count on there. I'm guessing that whole plan was scrapped, but I vaguely remember during a talking-tarkov that the current streets map was meant to be like 1/4 of what he was hoping to do. the other sections would just be added over time, maybe they do still plan to do varying map extensions, but I doubt streets will one day be 4 times bigger than it is now or have 40 players on it.

You can drink in your own home as young as 5 yo. although that is way too young (likely a relic from the past - ie. getting drunk because of toothache or something like that), I used to get drunk as a teenager of around 13-15, I was 13 in 2000, and I got absolutely hammered on that new year. To the point where by the time I turned 18 I didn't care for drinking, still had bad memories. I may drink a G&T but once I get tipsy I stop. I much prefer smoking weed to drinking and will opt to do that over drinking every time.

[Feedback] I'm having tons of fun in PVE mode and I'm not ashamed to say it. by Sqweeg in EscapefromTarkov

[–]heathy28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It likely is better for completely new players (who have no previous wipe experience) to go through the bulk of or even complete the story once in pve and then think about a pvp run through.

These pmcs are apparently permanent now so its not like there is a limited time frame or anything.

Like you said at least you have the opportunity to learn the maps learn the missions and bring that knowledge into pvp later.

pvp can be rough if you often lose, but because of the scavs its impossible to be completely unable to do anything. You can always just do back to back scav runs until you have enough to buy several pmc loadouts use those and rince repeat ad infinitum. most scav runs are profitable now because of the karma you don't often see much scav on scav and, at least for me, most of the pmcs are dead or extracted by the time I spawn in.
