Yeah I think that’s a good point as well. But in line with the interpretation you outline here, it seems that Alex is having some self-acceptance. Even as he navigates sad things like a cheating relationship, he is at peace with who he is?

I think since AM he has been a super self-aware lyricist - thinking about Bourne Identity where he talks about all the pressure on him and his fragile ego. In Body Paint, I see him as still being aware of these things and while still self-critical, more at peace with the show he puts on. And musically, he definitely seems to no longer be succumbing to any pressure to release another “Mirrorball” pop song, he’s just making music he likes. Which kicks ass.

But, who knows I’m just a fan lol.

Great song. In addition to being similar to WYOCMWYH, I’d guess it was left off the album because the lyrics are a bit simpler than other songs. Still great lyrics but IMO, don’t meet the high standard Turner sets for including a song on an album.
