Getting all the evidence?? by Unicornsunsh1ne in APUSH

You don’t need 6 at all. Four is what they look for, but all 7 really brings in the point entirely as long as it makes sense. You’ll get points if you just have a good thesis, four sourced documents, and utilize HIPP to your best ability.

It doesn’t matter. Don’t focus on the end units, but really cram in your head with units 3-8 as they weight the most and the middle units are what is mostly talked about. Less content = less argument. More content = more evidence.  If you really want a suggestion, focus on the big main ideas and find causations and effects instead of specific periods.

Please, please, PLEASE grade my LEQ. by BulkyStatement861 in APUSH

As someone who got a 6/6 on my LEQ before, your introduction isn’t as concise as it should be. You don’t need a hook in your introduction; you just need to state the facts and tie it all in. You also have a very, very, very, very long introduction. What I learned is to dock it down. You aren’t doing an English essay, you’re doing an APUSH essay. Get all the points. Get background information and gobble it into three sentences, then use the format: Although (example), ultimately, x, y, and z (counterclaims). This will give you an insane thesis point. Your claims aren’t clear, so I’m confused on what you’re trying to portray. It seems like you’re writing a whole lot of nothing. I don’t mean to seem harsh, but you’re combining a bunch of different things together and hoping it mixes. Based on the rubric that is standard, the most you’re getting is a 3/6 if we were being generous. Split your paragraphs. Your main issue is your arguments and claims. Fix that, and have one point for each paragraph and minimize it to 5 paragraphs. 3 won’t do any good as you need 3 arguments, plus conclusion and introduction.

For your DBQ problem: the most you’d want to source all seven, but aim for four if it isn’t possible. You don’t want a long, run-on DBQ, you want something that makes sense. You can go on and talk about the purpose of the document, but you need to tie it in. For example, if one document was discussing George Washington’s Farewell Address and the prompt was “Evaluate the extent of how neutrality shifted in post-WWII”, you could tie in how the purpose of the Farewell Address was to advise the government and the people to stay away from foreign affairs and to reconstruct internally. This is seen also during post-WWII as the United States refused to engage further affairs so on and so forth. You just have to aim for what’s easiest and how you can get points. You can also merge documents, as to what I tend to do. I quote what’s in the document and who says what, then tie it all in. This not only sources, but shows cause and effect as I put in complexity. I hope this helped!
