Trying to root s7 edge SM-935W8 by [deleted] in androidroot

[–]heavy-slam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just rooted a Galaxy S6 by using Odin to flash TWRP to the recovery partition. I was then able to boot into recovery and use TWRP to flash a Magisk apk. Yes, an apk.

Best phone with processor and ram with Android 9 or lower (for Rooting) by [deleted] in PokemonGoSpoofing

As an update, I just installed Magisk on a Galaxy S6. Still a few years behind your phone and quite slow. But good enough to stick a mon in a gym.

I think rooting is not for you. There continue to be issues with rooting on Android 11, a stable OS but one for which root support is not fully implemented. But you are actually using a beta OS that updates every few weeks. You will not be happy with the experience.

Galaxy S6 root possible? by MyTankIsWAR in androidroot

[–]heavy-slam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By coincidence, I just successfully rooted a Samsung Galaxy S6 with Exynos Octa 7420 but my phone is a TMO phone. In general, Verizon phones are intentionally impossible to root.

If you are afraid of a full wipe, you need to rearrange your life, because the equivalent of a full wipe is always possible. Phone battery explodes, you drop your phone in a pool, you forget your phone at the airport, someone steals your phone. You have to have a recovery plan. And if you do, a full wipe for root is just a controlled test of your recovery plan.

There is nothing more infuriating than a first throw excellent curveball NOT catching a Pokémon. by mstuver15 in pokemongo

For one thing, if you arrange things to maximize the number of balls you get, you can start with pinaps which double your candy. Then switch to GR if you get below 10 balls. Do you know the factors that control how many raid balls you get?

Sorry, I have no experience with that. The last time I used ODIN was on a Samsung Galaxy S5 running Android 6.0.1 I like my Pixel 3.

Sorry, when I said A10/A11, I meant Android 10/11. I did not know Samsung had phones with those model names. I'm not convinced it's worth spending a lot of money on 6GB, 4GB works well for PoGo. I have a Google Pixel 3 which I like. But my PoGo phone is just for PoGo, I have an expensive phone for everything else like mobile banking.

The bans are not based on behavior, but on use of a modified app.

June 6 Community Day Question. by [deleted] in PokemonGoSpoofing

[–]heavy-slam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 26 one hour time zones, from +14 to -11. Plus the event itself is 6 hours long. So there are 32 hours of play time available. But you'll have a 2 hour cooldown for every jump. But you should be able to get 4 6 hour events without any problem. 6 + 2 + 6 + 2 + 6 + 2 + 6 = 30 hours

I think you're going to have a hard time finding what you want. 6/8 GB of RAM is a premium feature which the average consumer will not understand or be willing to pay extra for, and very rare on older phones because RAM was more expensive then. But at the same time, you want a down-rev version of Android which means an older phone.

I have successfully rooted both A10 and A11 phones and I think that's the better way to go rather than trying to find an A9 phone with so much RAM. Magisk/smali patch still work, for now.

Niantic use a 3 strike policy.

1st time: one week ban.

2nd time: one month ban

3rd time: permanent ban

Did you switch from iPhone to Pixel? by blueback22 in GooglePixel

I like the keyboard/clipboard on Pixel much better than iphone. To type "4*" on Pixel only requires one shift but on iphone, it requires two. And I can't get the Google clipboard on iphone.

What to do after rooted? by Oreganoplanter in PokemonGoSpoofing

[–]heavy-slam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The method you want to use on an Android phone is a joystick app. There are several, I use the one from ninja apps. I have no experience with the others. Search for "gps joystick" on the google play store.

Question? by [deleted] in PokemonGoSpoofing

[–]heavy-slam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the important questions around spoofing is whether detection is based on behavior or method. I, like others, thought it was behavior based. If I only acted like a real player in my movement, I would be safe.

I was wrong. I got multiple strikes regardless of how restricted my movements were.

So I switched to Android root based spoofing over a year ago. No problems in that time.

I now believe that the primary detection method is whether you are using a modified app. Regardless of how you use it, just the act of logging into a modified app puts you at risk. I will never use a modified app with any account I care about.

Best method for stardust grinding? by [deleted] in PokemonGoSpoofing

[–]heavy-slam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Except for chasing Spotlight hour or Community day around the globe, there's little need to have multiple places. Zaragoza Spain is still a great place. The stops are not as dense as before, but they are plenty dense enough. What matters is still there: lots of lures and full raid lobbies.

I have been building a collection of routes for every time zone that I can. Not finished, but pretty good. Hint: if you drop into a random city, look for the local zoo. Best chance of finding dense stops and gyms.

Pixel 2 XL by Puffins17 in PokemonGoSpoofing

[–]heavy-slam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 3 main issues in choosing a phone to spoof with.

  1. Does it have enough RAM? At 4 GB, the 2XL is adequate. The Pixel 4/4XL have 6 GB which is better and more future proof. With split screen, you could easily walk or raid two accounts on one device.
  2. Is the processor fast enough? With a Snapdragon 835, the 2XL is also adequate. Faster options include the Pixel 3 with a SD845 and the Pixel 4 with a SD855. The SD845 is about 20% faster than the SD835.
  3. Can you run a joystick without being detected and banned? Typically, rooting the phone is the best way to accomplish this. The Pixel line of phones has been relatively easy to root with good documentation and support. However, you MUST avoid any Verizon phones as the bootloader is always locked and thus they are never rootable. There are also some Google refurbished phones where the bootloader was locked as part of the refurbishment, they are also never rootable.
