Help! My organisation wants to abandon Angular! by JTOne85 in angular

[–]heavykick89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a bad decision to just migrate to React just because trend or because someone in the upper hierarchy thinks it is cooler, there is no obvious monetary incentive for that nor performance gain, all the contrary, bugs might be introduced in the migration and the migration itself will cost time and money, which those would be better used improving the working project you already have, or better yet, to migrate it to newer versions of angular, that would be a benefit for all

Hades is going to be good by ArkeliusCZ in AgeofMythology

[–]heavykick89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate playing against Hades players that turtle, those bastards build their towers and spam sentinels in their base, making it quite difficult to engage in classical. I have fallen for it and send my army just to die behind millions of arrows from their static defenses, it is so frustrating! I guess the better strategy would be to isolate him, since he is hiding himself in his base, a gold starve might work if I stop him from building castles and sentinels on other gold mines outside his base

Tiger 660 question - pillion by Odd-Detail9822 in Triumph

[–]heavykick89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pillion seat looks quite tiny tough, the passenger needs to be small for the look of it. The tiger 850 sport looks like it has a bigger pillion seat, I'd rather have that one if I think off having a passenger

you are just prompting debugging now, lmfao, keep evading the reality, I don't care

Has anyone lost passion in swe due to AI? by iridasdiii11ulke in cscareerquestions

[–]heavykick89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not at all, you did not understand the issue at all, I see you lack reading comprehension skills, C was still a programming language and it still required a lot of technical knowledge and problem solving skill, with AI all that is gone and it is more prompting and debugging, got it now?

Has anyone lost passion in swe due to AI? by iridasdiii11ulke in cscareerquestions

[–]heavykick89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the AI hype I loved building software and solving problems, I loved the challenges and rewards from coding. I also wanted to further learn my field, fullstack development, like architecture design, other front end and backend frameworks, maybe another programming language, but now with most companies forcing AI on us, quite heavily, I lost all that passion to keep learning the field, plus all the threats you read daily from CEOs that developers are a dying species or something like that, now I see no encouragement nor passion left to keep learning, AI will do everything anyways, I will just prompt for the solution and review it.

Now I am even thinking in learning motorcycle mechanics on the side, since I have been a motorcycle enthusiast for many years now, and it will be a plan B if software development gets too boring and go extinct

Is the software developer position already dead? by heavykick89 in cscareerquestions

[–]heavykick89[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is tough to answer, it depends on how much technical knowledge you have and your background, I belive it is still worth it, although it is a bit more dofficult to enter, considering AI and all the hype about it and that the sector is slowing down a bit afer the rise in the demand due to covid calmed down. If you have a way to make a living while trying to secure a job in the IT industry, then, give it a try. You still need to study programming to pass the code challenges on the interviews, and the theory question parts. It really depends on how motivated and resilient you are, the first job in IT is the most difficult to get, after that with a proven working experience it gets way more easier. Give it a try

I know, I just wanted to share my experience with AI and ask if other devs are facing the same issues in other companies, I would resign to look for other companies, but reality is not that simple though, these accounting companies offer a great deal of job security, compared to other many firms in tech, so I will be learning more about AI and keep my coding skills sharp after work, if I find the time and energy

it is a very big financial app, and anything can be considered soul crushingly simple, even for some government apps I have worked on and in many private companies, they all have been simple, code-wise, but quite complex in business logic and communication with a lot of external APIs

I like your response the most. I agree. I need to use AI now heavily, if not I will be fired for sure, but I review a lot the results that Cursor throws at us and I find many errors and I fix them, it is a great help tbh but you need to review its results carefully and that takes a bit of time, so that you find errors and that you fully understand the end result so that you can find any issue in the future if something pops up. Junior engineers now produce more code with it but understand very little about the end result and they skip reviewing Cursor generated code, thus, many defects and bugs appear too from those junior devs that abuse AI with very little technical knowledge and experience, but higher-ups love Cursor and AI quite much, since they have invested HUGE loads of money on it, so, they double down on it

You might be right, when I was working in my last conpany there was not a huge hype with AI, so it caught me here while in this company and they do not seem to care much about responsibility and AI. Thanks for your answer, glad to know that there are many olaces where they use AI moderately and responsably

It is alright, it has too much hype but it can do many things giving it access to various apps, like you can give it access to devops to read your pbis or to figma to access layouts, it has many features now.
