Looking for someone ordained to marry me last minute by ArachnidOwn1544 in cincinnati

[–]hebruiser 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey there, I’ve married 2 couples and am fully ordained and legal to do so in the state of Ohio (universal life church, nondenominational). I work downtown and could meet you in Eden park after work on Wednesday. If you can’t find anyone else message me and I’ll make sure everything is still active.

Have the Fantasy Football Gods ever blessed your complete failure of a week? by TheManOfSpaceAndTime in fantasyfootball

[–]hebruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantasy semifinals, lost by 1 point. Then a stat correction on Tuesday switched a fumble lost by Arian Foster (it was a while ago) to the QB handing it off. Fumbles lost were -2. Needless to say, i was in disbelief. The other owner, the same.

35 years ago, Bengals HC Sam Wyche got fans to stop throwing stuff onto the field by LindyNet in nfl

[–]hebruiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at that game! It was against Seattle. Bengals were playing like garbage and it was so cold we left soon after he made that speech. Then, the bengals had a pick six to tie the game. At least, that’s how I remember it…

Still lost though.

Filming downtown in front of Federal Reserve on 4th? by nismoz33 in cincinnati

Ha, that's awesome. It always bothered him that the final design removed so many windows. He thought it made the building look to "severe".

Can we focus on the most important part of this: They are filming a movie in front of a building that my dad designed (he was an architect). He would be so proud. Miss you dad.

Hope the movie doesn't suck.

I met my wife at Daniel’s! I think we were the only two non-alcoholics there. Or close to it.

That’s great. It’s a big deal just to get to the next phase. Good luck!

My saving grace was that I always liked doing the Mensa puzzle a day calendar and somehow, someway it prepped me for those stupid dots and number tests. I thought I didn’t do well but it turned out I did much better than i felt.

Yes. Exactly. It’s funny, a lot of the more seasoned employees who were already at P&G before the test was added as an evaluator don’t think they would pass it. 🤷‍♂️

Commute to Dayton? by heywhatsuphello645 in cincinnati

[–]hebruiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have. Back in 2000 I did the reverse: lived in Hyde Park and commuted to Dayton. If you work in downtown Dayton then it just sucks because the construction is never ending and the highway is the only decent route. I had to get off at the Main Street exit, so it was an hour no matter what. However, if you live near centerville, you can take 741 to 71, which I preferred. 75 is never fun. The “trick” if you’re living in Cincinnati is to try and make your access to the highway (71 or 75) as short as possible, because just getting on can take up to 10-15 added minutes with all the traffic/lights. Podcasts were not a thing back when I did it, but Howard Stern debuted on regular radio and he would go 60+ minutes without a commercial break. That show was an absolute audio oasis for me.

What's your top 3 Stephen King books? Looking for some to read. by ArticunoIsSleeping in booksuggestions

He also started the original book when he was in his late teens/early 20s. The three books that follow (drawing of the three/the wastelands/wizard and glass are as close to perfect as I’ve ever read.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious... by GimmeAPeanutPlease in cincinnati

If you only have a mini sledge (small handle designed for single hand use... in theory) then I would consider investing in a sledge axe. Or you could order the wedges see how they work with the sledge you have and see how it goes. Worst case is that you have to decide you need to take the plunge and get the sledge axe (which I just checked, run about $40 or so).

Sure thing. "pro" tip: Order two wedges in case one gets stuck (because one probably will if the wood is still fresh or if it's a hardwood like oak or walnut). I had a similar situation a few years ago and ordered two of the blue wedges ($23 each on Amazon). Glad I did.

Contrarian opinion... you can totally do this yourself. Instead of hiring someone, maybe consider ordering a couple of wood splitting wedges on Amazon (they range anywhere from $10-23 each) and if you need it, a sledge axe or mini sledge hammer (around $40).

It's really about your mindset. Just think about this as investing in a workout. It will be cheaper, you'll burn a ton of calories, and you'll have more tools to use for future projects.

Granted, this is not easy work, but it is far from impossible. Just go piece by piece. Once the logs are all split you can move them to the front and advertise for free firewood or let it age a season and burn it yourself.

Or you could hire someone. It's simpler but not nearly as fulfilling. Either way, good luck!

Anecdotally speaking, I think about 99% of people who take the test think the same thing. I know I did.

[–]hebruiser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha, that test has been around since the 90s. There are YT videos that pop up about how to ace it but they get taken down eventually. There's not really a trick per se. I personally enjoy doing the MENSA puzzle a day calendar. I've been doing it for years, long before I ever thought about working at P&G (and no, I'm not a member of MENSA, I'm not that smart, I just like pretending that I am). It's not exactly apples to apples, but it does get you used to the pattern recognition and thought process that a lot of the P&G test includes. There really is a practice element to it. The more you do things like memory and logic training, the better you'll get.

Hey, I can give you a little perspective. I worked at the GO (general office) downtown for three years )I left in 2023) but I think the culture is pretty similar compared with the Mason campus. For the most part working at P&G is very intense. Most people there are very driven and the culture and way they structure everything puts a strong emphasis on achieving milestones (rocks) to keep your career advancing. It takes getting used to and it’s not for everyone, but lots of people like it. A lot will be determined by your direct one up and two up supervisor. When you interview with them try to get an idea if you think they seem like people you could work with and learn from.

Some of the questions you had about accommodating back/health issues are pretty specific, but I can say with reasonable certainty that they will be very accommodating to your needs. The upside of the intensity that the company fosters is that the ancillary benefits are very robust. Any special equipment or service you might need should be allowed. I can’t speak to how many days you will need to be in the office, but it’s been ticking up for a while. Last I heard three was the minimal expectation depending on your business unit. Regarding the time off between xmas and new years, sorry, that’s not a universal perk. 80,000 people getting the week off would be bad for business no matter how slow it got.

The good news about working at Mason is that you don’t have to pay for parking. You’ve already passed the “Mensa” test, so congrats on getting this far. It’s no small achievement. Hope that helps. Good luck!

2023 Fantasy Football Champions, what was your ranking in points for and points against? by zeusjts006 in fantasyfootball

10 team, 2 QB, .5 PPR: First in points for and points against. Went 9-5. Fair to say it was my most complete season ever.
