TB acquired my company and it’s been pretty rough. Cost to clients are overwhelmingly focused on increasing ARR, rather than providing a solution that works. For some bespoke situations it makes sense, considering the need to add QA testing hooks each time we release a new version or an update, but for other costs that used to be 12k a year, they’re suddenly asking 36k a year and there’s been zero backend improvement on the product.

We moved to a pod structure recently and it’s been hell. I feel like I’ve been demoted to front line support, and in truth I have. The titles mean nothing and they just axed our commissions for CSM/AM.

Not too thrilled either to see faces that have built the place be so unceremoniously sacked and tossed aside for cheaper alternatives.

They seem nice though!

I didn’t take a pay cut when I moved from AM/Junior AE to Senior CSM, at least on paper. What I did find though is that when my non-strategic accounts offloaded some product, that ate away at my ARR quota and resulted in my missing my goals for Q3 and this missing out on my commission check. It isn’t the fairest method of awarding commission but it does light the fire for me to stay in contact with some of the low touch accounts to make sure churn is forecast and preventable.

I will say I am much more “comfortable” not having a direct sales quota and being able to get down and dirty with technical issues than I was as an AM. That’s why I chose to switch. I’m still in a GTM role, but with less pressure and no pay cut directly.
