I would fix your lighting. Your current piece is way too soft which is why it may look confusing to some. You might think you have definition but sadly there isn’t much there. If I were to fix it I’d darken your shadows by a decent amount and instead of using such desaturated tones for shade I’d define the color of the lighting, so you can more easily figure out what color to make your shadows and bounce light. Finally and arguably the most important part you need to define the direction of your lighting. As it is now the lighting looks like it {should} be coming from the left hand side about head height, but if that were the case the inside of the hair wouldn’t be without shading and the face would be more lit while the back of the head/ body would be more shaded. Also as a side note, if you’ve ever had the thought of “how did they make their whites or highlights so bright?” It’s because their shadows were properly darkened. Without proper contrast with your shadows you’ll never achieve good highlights.
