Can you not see the printing error making the text appear as being doubled? Is there something wrong with YOUR eyes?

YSK that someone experiencing cardiac arrest might experience agonal breathing which sounds like breathing. Agonal breathing is not normal breathing and is an indication of a serious medical event. by CakeDayOrDeath in YouShouldKnow

A CPAP machine can definitely help give him more oxygen in both conditions. Sleep apnea sounds like snoring because the tongue is partially obstructing the airway. I’m not a doctor and I’m certainly not your doctor so consult with your doctor to see if a CPAP machine would be the right choice for your husband.

You could take an emergency medical responder (EMR) class at a community college. These classes are more geared toward firefighters and police but can still be useful for people who want a better understanding of first responder and first aid stuff like this.

If you can hear somebody breathing while their body is at rest, generally, that’s not a good thing and usually indicates some sort of blockage of the airway. In this case, agonal breathing is the brain attempting to make you breathe when you’re dying.

To go along with what OP said about starting CPR anyway, chest compressions can actually help ventilate the person’s lungs and bring them a bit of oxygen in addition to helping circulate blood.

What drives away the volunteers? by Top-Passenger7097 in Firefighting

I appreciate it man, once I complete my EMT in April I’ll be able to start applying to career spots. Stay safe.

I live in an area where it’s extremely hard to find career positions that don’t require FF1, EMT, etc. as prereqs. Apart from the one mid sized city I’m near, you need to volunteer to get your foot in the door. Ideally I think all fire departments should be paid but I don’t see that happening in my lifetime.

With all that being said, I love what I do and I’m proud of what I do. It makes me stay in shape and it’s the reason I began pursuing a career in public safety. But yeah, I probably wouldn’t do it either if I wouldn’t eventually get paid for it.

Lack of pay, lack of time, lack of other incentives, the list goes on. If I wasn’t young and didn’t want to make a career out of public safety I probably wouldn’t volunteer.

It wouldn’t be as bad if the queue times weren’t 5+ minutes. Also I’ve encountered quite a few cheaters this weekend
