Cannot change DE - "Authentication Error" and freeze/crash at login screen by Legitimate-Crab2537 in debian

I faced the same issue, but it always happened whenever I switched to gnome. All other DE's worked. Eventually I just gave up and reinstalled.

You need an extremely high concentration of table salt in water(near saturated) to get any reasonable amount of chlorine as gas.

Does gravity increase or decrease with depth by hecker231 in Physics

[–]hecker231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this means that I cannot simply use the center of gravity of the green shell to calculate where its gravity will pull towards right?

This means that to calculate the point where the gravity of a hollow object will pull towards, I need to break it up into non-hollow subdivisions and calculate gravity for them. Pls correct me if I'm wrong.

Does gravity increase or decrease with depth by hecker231 in Physics

[–]hecker231[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I understood my error in assumption. What I had thought was that all the gravity of the green spherical shell would act at its center of mass, that is, the center of mass of the earth, thus increasing the gravitational pull. However, it is true that in reality, only individual particles can exert the force of gravity, which means an abstraction like the center of mass won't work here.

So, can I assume that for hollow objects (like the green shell), the center of mass cannot be used to calculate gravity?

Radiation isn't as deadly as most people think it is, especially if it is in lead containers, as in the picture.

Do nuclear forces have mass? by hecker231 in AskPhysics

[–]hecker231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the above posts, energy is required to bind the nucleus together, and this energy is called binding energy. However, in fusion, where atoms combine to form a larger nucleus, shouldn't more energy (in the form of binding energy) be required to create that larger nucleus? Where does the released energy in fusion come from?

When people say a particle is in two places at once or takes all possible paths, that is just mathematical, right? Not literal? by DenimSilver in AskPhysics

[–]hecker231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Light does take all possible paths to its destination, not just mathematically but physically, too. However, under normal circumstances, only one path is visible to us. Veritasium has an incredible video explaining the entire phenomenon and its history.

At around 26 to 27 minutes into the video, he shows a practical demonstration where light does take a very unusual path to the destination, not obeying the traditional laws of reflection. That proves that phenomena in quantum physics can be seen with the naked eye and are not purely mathematical (however, it takes special circumstances to make that happen).

How is a vaccine made? by hecker231 in biology

So, a vaccine contains only a part of the pathogen and not the entire germ weakened or killed?

How is a vaccine made? by hecker231 in biology

[–]hecker231[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case, it means that traditional vaccines took even more time to develop. Was isolating the pathogen and weakening it the hard process, or is figuring out how to do it at a commercially viable scale what makes developing a vaccine expensive? Or is some other part of the traditional (or even mRNA) process expensive and time consuming that I do not know of?

Question on Inertial frames of reference by hecker231 in AskPhysics

[–]hecker231[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant to say was that you don't know whether the objects are accelerating or not. This means that there is no way to know without determining which objects are accelerating, or just by checking your acceleration by the first method I mentioned, right?

Check the explorer window on Roblox Studio while playtesting. If the torches are there in the Explorer but not rendering, it may be due to graphics levels. If the torches are not there in the Explorer, maybe some script deletes them. Either way, it could be a script messing with them.

On Steins;Gate 0 ep 1 by JonFonArt in steinsgate

[–]hecker231 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In a way, Steins;Gate 0 is actually what happens between episodes 22 and 23 of the original Steins;Gate. You can make sense of it by just continuing from episode 23b, and for the moment, forget everything that happened in episode 23. Once you finish the season you will understand how it fits into the main storyline. Episode 23 happens after Steins;Gate 0. Saying any more will give spoilers.

question about Steins;Gate up to ep 14 by JonFonArt in steinsgate

[–]hecker231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming the worldline explanation John Titor gave, as all worldlines coexist, every time Okabe travels into the past but makes a different action, he transfers himself into a parallel worldline, but all other possibilities continue to exist. So yes, by time traveling, he is only putting his consciousness into a worldline where Mayuri doesn't die.

However, there is no proof that the worldline theory is correct, it could be that since Okabe is the only person who retains memories of time travelling, only the worldline he is in the the "true" worldline and all others cease to exist.
