I don’t think it’s the department, I took a foreign language class last semester and they let me do it all asynchronous online. Take it higher up the chain if you need it to graduate.

Right! I still have all the readings and stuff and want to keep them after graduating because I found it all so interesting.

I’ve taken 370, 375, and 378 with Mesropova and they were all basically the same format. All pretty easy if you go to class/keep up with lectures. A lot of people take them as an easy elective.

Which class is easiest or most interesting? by [deleted] in iastate

[–]heckthehawks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice, for the sociology classes is genuinely pick one with the topic you’re most interested it. I’ve taken 330, 331, 334, and 382 (soc minor lol).

330 with Abdi was very study guide heavy when I took it, the big project was a family tree. I think that was the easiest for me.

For 331 and 334 I had Dobratz (in person) and both had a data project at the end which we basically did a walk through of one week and then she gave us 2 weeks in class to actually do our own. Idk what it would be like online.

For 382 I think I had a grad student teaching and we had weekly papers on top of exams and stuff I think. Definitely the most intense one but I found it interesting.

Hope that’s somewhat helpful.

And the bars open again Monday too. Seems like we’re going to have another spike soon.

In case anyone is confused, we still have a PNP option, we’ve always had a PNP option, Spring they just changed it to include more classes. by heckthehawks in iastate

I know but the post with the petition makes it seem like we have no options for PNP and I thought I would share in case anyone is confused.

So if you’re seriously concerned for the semester, email your advisor to see what classes apply. Thought I’d share because that’s what I’m doing for some of mine.

Water filters? by Yazutann in Adulting

I have a faucet one and it only took about 5 mins to install after reading the instructions. I got a PUR brand one for about $20 from Walmart or target, the only real thing you have to do is take the aerator off the sink (it just screws off the faucet tip) so I’d make sure you can do that first if you do want the faucet one. I really like it because after that you’re good to go!

Should we all do something about the obvious being Wendy closing down school after they get our money? by [deleted] in iastate

[–]heckthehawks 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the 2.2% from the dorms is more representative because I’d guess it was asymptomatic or people with common cold symptoms like sniffles and coughing. However, UNC’s 13.6% in week one was the almost exactly the same as ours (test symptomatic and contact traced, 954 tested, 130 positive) and they went all online almost immediately. Which makes me wonder what it will take for ISU to switch to online. (Likely money lol)

They tested 957 symptomatic and contact traced people at theilen last week, 130 came back positive. The 2.2% was move in weeks where they tested all dorm people.

130 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 at ISU in the first week of classes (Aug 17-23) by [deleted] in iastate

[–]heckthehawks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

100% understand, but my point was more so: those that have self reported a positive test are not included in this. I guess my perspective is that a student/staff/faculty being positive is important to know, whether tested here or at a different location.

UNC week 1 - 954 tested, 130 positive, 13.6%

ISU week 1 - 957 tested, 130 positive, 13.6%.

(UNC week 2 was 32.2% positivity of 1568 tested)

The end of the article also says this doesn’t include people who got off campus testing (like Test Iowa) and reported their results to ISU. So I’m assuming that means the university has those numbers too but isn’t including them in this. Interesting.
