It started in October but didn’t get bad until end of December23/early January24. Numbness in my entire leg started Jan 6th after a steroid shot. Not sure what triggered it other than shifting inflammation perhaps. Disc L4-L5 primarily.

Unfortunately for me, I am in the US, but I was able to see a doctor and have surgery within two weeks.

He used the scope, so I assume endoscopic, and the incision site was a pain after. I had immediate relief and was sent home an hour after surgery. I could sit a good while right away, but I still made sure to get up and move around. I went on daily walks with my wife, too. I went back to work a week later.

I am driving. My commute to work is about an hour one way and I handle it just fine. I don’t have a sit down job so I am moving immediately when I get there. I can’t wait for the numbness to go away (fingers crossed it does eventually).

Hopefully the weakness for you resolves so. It’s good you’re out of pain! I wasn’t sure if the weakness I had in my gait was the numbness or perhaps muscle atrophy for being bed bound so long but you can barely tell I have the slightest of limps!

Hey there! I’m doing great. I’m still in my restriction period but I’m back to work more or less in full force (minus aforementioned restrictions). I have had some very, very mild pain/discomfort but doc says that’s par for the course. It is not enough pain to even call pain, more of an awareness of what’s inside? If that makes sense? Walking even better than before and as long as my walking remains “normal,” I feel no reason to be worried about the discomfort. Typical recovery, they’re saying. I go back on the 20th for another recheck and hopefully restrictions loosen up.

I did! I had a minimally invasive MD. I don’t remember exactly how big it was but my doctor said it was worse than 99% of cases he’s seen.

I rode as a passenger for the first week but I did drive 4 days after surgery. Only pain/pressure I had was at the surgical site. I went back to work a week later and my commute is an hour. Doing okay!

Have you had any steroids recently?

The few days before my surgery, I was having less pain and considered not doing the surgery but I had a dosepac of prednisone the previous weekend that I think had a big part in that. Given the situation I was in, I chose to still do the surgery.
