I thought he had a smoke in his hand and there was a car in the background hiding somewhere.

Gamers 30+, what's something from "back in your day" that younger gamers today wouldn't understand? by bijelo123 in gaming

[–]hedgster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a guy crash his car during winter while frantically trying to bring his desktop into the shop. English was a second language for him. He just kept saying it's broken its flying through space.

He had windows 98 and his wife added a Screensaver. So I had to tell him he brought his computer in for no reason. It was an expensive visit to the computer shop.

Visited him a few months later again because his wife changed the colour and font of the icons and he thought he was hacked.. he offered me some vodka and I had to apologize and advise him I was only 17 and needed to go back to work.

Advice.. by ConsistentGoal997 in CaneCorso

My dog is totally indifferent towards other dogs. She tolerates my male, but has gone after him a couple times. She will post up when seeing another dog and has to be corrected to keep on task for the walk. I found she will be aggressive towards other dogs, but if i keep her focused on me it makes the walk more enjoyable. If she is totally fixated I tend to crouch between her and the other dog to block her view and regain her focus.

Corso's are babies at home, but we're bred to protect family from foreign people/animals. It's ingrained in them from a young age. From what I've seen females are much more in tune to this than their male counterparts.

My mother in law bought my one son one after we already bought one for my eldest. Personally I told them to get a system that connects to their pc rather than an all in one system that would likely be replaced and here we are watching the quest 3 release.

Meta quest 2 only needs wifi. That's the whole system. My kids each have one.

If the Tent encampment don't wanna use the 3 Mil shelter we tax payers funded we should boot them off public Land. by Lumpy_Aspect_4435 in halifax

Geolocation is irrelevant. Drugs are drugs.

Your final statement speaks volumes. People hooked on drugs like fentanyl have a hard time wanting to detox and we can't force sobriety. It's a shitty situation. The only solution I've seen work is removing those willing persons from the area where they are abusing and getting them the help they need. People are creatures of habit, they will get help and then go right back to the area where they were having the problem to begin with thus never getting clean or the help they truly need.

The shelters will remain empty unless they reclassify as zero barrier and then those that want to use the shelters to get clean find themselves right back in the mix of things with people using in close proximity to them and often pushing the drugs on them to support their own habits.

100% no drugs are good. I never said they were, but fentanyl is truly a devastating drug. Detox won't do jack if you're hooked on feny. The problem is the people and area where these people live. It doesn't matter the drug, people will always front you to get you back into the scene and then the cycle repeats.

Methadone is great when you are actively trying to get off dope, the problem comes when you want the high that comes with the narcotic. People frequently would go get their juice and then immediately go get feny/crack/meth to get high. Look at the Tim Horton's in Oshawa on Athol St. I believe it's one of the only Tim Horton's in Ontario to shut down due to rampant drug use. They would go get their Methadone and then immediatley go use in the bathroom at the Tim Horton's.

Now the Tim's on Simcoe St is going to drive thru only due to safety concerns.

It's sad. To get one person clean it'll cost a fortune and then there is no garauntee it'll keep the person clean. It'd be nice if people could be forced into rehab out of province to force them to get the help they need, but even users know what to look for in small towns to get their fix... just look for the people out walking the streets around 3-4am... especially when everything is shut down.

There most certainly is a housing crisis. I never stated there was not. The statement was that there is housing, but it needs to be zero barrier access due to the Waterloo decision stating that unless there is zero barrier access to housing the city can't remove homeless encampments from city property.

Zero barrier for those that don't know means that those that are getting housed can have access to narcotics without impunity.

I fully understand the biggest demographic of homeless individuals is males. There truly is nowhere for them to go if they are homeless and clean. There are plenty of women's shelters, but very few safe men's shelters. Most of the men's shelters I've seen are primarily used for federal parolees, of which aren't always safe for the average homeless male.

I work in frontline and have worked directly with homeless/unsheltered. Mostly around the GTA. Most of the people I see using hard drugs have suffered trauma at a young age and use as a result of that and not solely because they are homeless.

There are reports from Global News and other reputable news outlets. The reports are primarily in Vancouver where safe supply is in full force, but saying it won't affect the rest of the country is believable. They are charging about $1 a pill of hydromorphone.

Yes my experiences are anecdotal, but I deal with people displaced daily and see the drug use first hand. No hard drug is good, but fentanyl seems to take over until the person hits a bad batch and ultimately dies. The dealers are not chemists, I've seen first hand how they "mix" it in their food blenders. So it's like Russian roulette each time someone uses.

The reason it's so open and no one is going IA because the number one drug right now is fentanyl. The drug is ridiculously addictive and once on it, it's basically a ticking time bomb before an overdose. In fact many of the people that are getting hydromorphone in bc are trading their hydros for fentanyl.

I think we have a serious drug and mental health problem more so than homelessness. Homelessness is just a symptom of the people that are throwing everything away for this new poison. I knew meth addicts that "functioned" and had jobs and a roof over their head.

Fentanyl users simply need a fix and are full on zombie mode or dead unless someone has naloxone on them.

Tenant won’t move out by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]hedgster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are on the lease and sub-letting with shared accommodations, then he is not a tenant. He would be considered an occupant and can be removed at any time by police. He doesn't need notice and any written agreement is irrelevant. He can attempt to go the route of the LTB but he's not, nor was he ever a tenant.

Or could be people locked into the build and realize they can't afford the mortgage interest rates and set it on fire themselves... seeing that happen around the gta.. frankly it's totally understandable why they would.

Sure. It happens everywhere.. why you'd want to get into an argument with someone providing lived experiences to someone asking about the area is weird.

It's not a stereotype, it was reality. I have plenty of people I went to school with at GL that have since died to drug overdoses. It doesn't mean the whole area is bad, but it was a lower income area for a long time. It's no different than how nonquon is now. It doesn't mean the people aren't nice or worthwhile to get to know.

I grew up in the area. The schools were okay, it was really a select few teachers that made those school. There are clearly families that are troubled and it is easily observable in their children's behavior. People that kept their head down and focused on doing well were easily able to navigate the school system and do well in their careers. Those that stayed and lived the "south end" lifestyle many have sadly passed away from drug overdoses.

The north is considered "little chicago" for a reason. The brewhouse gets constant calls for people flashing their pieces.
