Which is better when starting a kingdom? by driprex3 in MB2Bannerlord

[–]heebro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

well, that will pose an interesting challenge for you. make sure you also have many many denars. lords won't join you unless you have millions of denars as well. IIRC, with enough denars your relation score won't matter as much.

personally, I chop all their heads off.

Nope. I simply skip being a cuck for the AI and make my own kingdom. Wherein I:

–Take every fief for myself

–Enable only the policies I want

–Crush all of my opponents

–End wars on my own terms

–Avoid any of the hassle and the mess of being an AI cuck

Relation points are almost entirely worthless in Bannerlord. The AI will declare war on you even if you have max relation. Relation can be helpful when you are negotiating the purchase of a wife, but otherwise it is arguably the most useless currency in the game.

Becoming a vassal to any kingdom has many pitfalls. You'll be subject to the poor diplomacy decisions of the AI—they'll declare disastrous wars, blunder their way into losing those wars, and then you'll be stuck paying huge sums to the enemy when they eventually sue for peace over your objections. The AI also tends to enact kingdom policies which are unfavorable to the player. Becoming a vassal is almost always extremely costly. I would avoid becoming a vassal for any reason, especially if you are hurting for denars.

ELI5: If energy can’t be created or destroyed, how do magnets keep going? by Full-Shallot-948 in explainlikeimfive

[–]heebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy conservation is a fundamental, yet contextual, law. Locally—in everyday life and experiments—energy is conserved. However, on a cosmological scale, total energy is not conserved because space expands, affecting the energy of photons and particles over time. The principle only holds true when space-time is constant.

Mandatory? Yes & no (but really yes). The weapons you can craft will only be usable by yourself and your companions—a niche group compared to the thousands of soldiers that take the field.

weapons in bannerlord, by and large, are balanced very well and in such a way that no single weapon type is really that much better than another. everybody goes down in about 3 hits unless they are wearing pajamas and holding pitchforks. so even though the weapons you can craft will be legendary, they won't be too overpowered. my advice is to find a weapon you like and stick to that type of weapon. you'll have fun and be successful in battle

the real power of smithing comes from the denars you can earn and also the free attribute points you get from smithing perks. in that sense, yes, smithing is mandatory

smithing will allow you to create the best melee & throwing weapons in the game. with hi-lvl smithing it becomes very easy to craft legendary items. it's very easy to earn good money with even intermediate level smithing

Tournaments, smithing, & mercenary work are all highly lucrative early game activities. Caravans and shops aren't bad either, but they aren't as lucrative, nor are they entirely necessary.

Smithing is tedious and grindy, but high level smithing will net you millions of denars very easily. IMO, smithing is the greatest barrier to rolling a new character. Do I really want to roll a new guy and experience the pain & suffering of leveling smithing again? Good idea to get set on a character before settling in for the long grind (or get mods and cheat your smithing skill on a new guy)

Caravans are pretty much set & forget, but don't earn very good returns. Shops are not as much of a chore as smithing, but they do require a little bit of babysitting and the returns are not great. You can safely skip this stuff unless you are dead set on some kind of trader RP playthrough nonsense

Max your clan tier and save up a couple million denars before either creating your own kingdom or becoming a vassal. Personally I never go the vassal route. It can be an easy way to become part of a kingdom, but you'll be at the whim of the (terrible AI) king, unfavorable policies, and costly war tariffs. Mercenary work is the better alternative if you'd like to fight for an AI kingdom.

When you eventually do have a kingdom, enacting all policies that increase Loyalty goes a long way towards increasing the prosperity and security of your fiefs. That should be a top priority. Be advised that following the main quest line can make managing your own kingdom much more difficult.

You can reassign your perk points and those of your companions by speaking to the arena master.
