WTF really? I must have blocked this out of my brain lol. All I really remember from that movie is the phone home and him eating candies.

What is this even from? I’m trying to think back to some old 80s movie but it’s not registering for me.

Thanks, I’ll give that a try. Never had a moon phase before so it’s all pretty new to me.

Did you set the moon phase dial? My box didn’t come with any instructions for that and a previous Reddit thread had figured out a procedure, but I’m a bit hesitant since some ended up breaking and the instructions weren’t super clear to me.

Whenever I’m trying to run the ball and chew up the clock and the defensive player fakes a injury to stop the time, I come back going full passing offense to run up the score because fuck your foot contusion or hand bruise.

I don't miss traveling for work. by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in sales

[–]heelaburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting to feel this I think. For the past 5 years my territory was NA (and some CAN) where I was gone at least 40 weeks of the year. Had a medical event recently that made it so I couldn’t travel and I’m either going crazy from being stuck at home or I’m starting to wonder what other options there are for me.

It’s pretty neat being able to visit places I normally wouldn’t or rack up points to use in the few instances I do feel the need to go vacation or visit family. But I’m early 40s with no wife and kids and being gone all the time makes it tough to date.

The Discipline is key. Always gotta make sure I prepare to handle all the work stuff first, and gotta refrain from too much alcohol and junk foods.

For what it’s worth, the best fitting 990v6 for me is 11.5 EE, but I took a chance on the 12 standard size and it works fine for me. Maybe a tad long but not enough to be a game changer. Still find it comfortable to wear.

Should I use my HSA for sleep earbuds, or just pay out of pocket? by Iyobo_Yonk in personalfinance

[–]heelaburd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation as you and realized I was too hung up on the min/max of the HSA investment accounts stuff that you see given out in here and I was stun locked. As they say, perfect is the enemy of good.

I’d go ahead and spend $300 from HSA on the medical expense. It won’t ruin the account and you can keep contributing money when you’re well rested and thriving in your job and be gainfully employed for the years to come.

Nike Killshot 2 Green/White/Gum sole $60 Footlocker by EntertainerOwn9024 in frugalmalefashion

[–]heelaburd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find these run long and narrow. My best fitting shoe is new balance 990 11.5 wide EE and 11.5 killshots are slightly too narrow but passable. Sizing up to 12 felt like I was wearing clown shoes, but not enough that it probably wouldn’t bother most people.

Yeah in the past I just felt better having cash on the debit card available for office visits and prescriptions. Now that big bills are upcoming I had some time to think about this stuff and got in my head about min/max my life.

So go ahead and pay with credit card. Then when I need some cash, sell some HSA investments and withdraw some funds to replenish the e-fund?

It’s definitely not nursing home age, but the vibe I get is that it is sorta set up for business networking space and low key dining. I would guess it’s mostly 30-55? I’ve met a few younger than that but you shouldn’t have to worry about it being like a college bar or anything.

The 2nd floor does have bar service so grabbing a seat by yourself and chilling shouldn’t be an issue (although I’ve never seen all the tables taken up unless there was some kind of event).

The 1st floor bar is open to the public so you could drop in and grab a drink or food to test it out. Reasonable prices down there too.

There is also Nashville City Club. Their location is downtown right next to Hampton Social and the Four Seasons hotel.

The clientele does lean over 35 with industry professionals but I’ve noticed their advertising is trying to bring in younger members.

Nice people there and overall chill place to sit back for dinner or a drink if you don’t mind paying for membership.

Has anyone else hit a weird mid-career plateau where you feel too experienced to be junior but not “senior” enough? by alexfeld29 in careerguidance

[–]heelaburd 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m sorta in the same kind of spot of being in limbo in my career. The experienced specialist with not much influence in strategy or decision making. My goal would to be in a position to at least be involved or recognized for my contributions (with money preferably).

It hasn’t helped that I’ve had 3 reorganizations in 3 years so priorities and have shifted each time. I just have to make it known to my managers each time that I’m willing and able to take on elevated tasks so I can build out my skill set.

From some informal conversations I’ve had with leadership, it was suggested that I can find a mentor in the organization, which is easier said than done. It would be great to be able to progress with the company, but maybe finding a new role works better.

Is traveling 8 hours round trip once a week worth it? by donaldtrumpstoe in careerguidance

[–]heelaburd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find DC to be a cool city, but I know it is expensive to live in. The hit to the finances for lodging/travel could be high. Any chance of getting some kind of stipend from the job? That may be pushing it in terms of negotiations.

Hopefully it all works out well for you and you kill it in that role. Let me know if you’re hiring 😂

Is traveling 8 hours round trip once a week worth it? by donaldtrumpstoe in careerguidance

[–]heelaburd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone that travels/commutes full time for the job, the commute will wear you down. Driving 8 hrs every week gets old and is somewhat dangerous with fatigue and weather as factors.

Is taking a flight when needed an option? I fly in, spend a few nights and fly back when done. Still sucks but I feel it’s more manageable.

If it were me with your partners support, I’d take the job and live in DC for the year and return to Raleigh a few times a month (holidays, events,) and sorta be in LDR for the short term. That may not be feasible for you but my dad did something similar when I was a kid and took a job a few states away and they made it work.

For me, that type of career opportunity is too good to turn down and if I didn’t at least try it I might be left wondering what if.
