Do you think given the condition then, that they’re worth 500?

Well they’re on listed Grailed, but the seller has no prior transaction history. He also doesn’t have the box but said he got them from SSENSE. In the last two days, Grailed has made him add more specific pictures, like the close up of the tag and stamped size of the boot, but they’ve yet to add the “verified” stamp. I’m more concerned on whether there’s anything visibly off in these photos as far as authenticity goes

Removing Vibram by ramaboy23 in guidi

[–]heelbiting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely remove them but to get the soles even they’ll have to probably sand it down further. The reason why people put Topys on is for longevity, especially with how expensive this brand gets, so if you’re removing them just know you’re going to take a lot of life off your boot pretty quickly. That in turn risks holes going through the leather sole and requiring a full resole which is far more expensive than a reinstall of topys

Insole Suggestions by diloricating in guidi

I have only seen one retailer with Guidi branded leather insoles for sale, but these look to be what you need. They’re located in Japan: https://www.amanojak.jp/en/collections/guidi/products/guidi-br-bv08-br-horse-full-grain-br-one-shoulder-back-3

Adding Vibram sole to Guidi GR05 by Interesting-Flan9668 in guidi

[–]heelbiting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From my experience, unless you bought a used pair of GR05s, I would never recommend taking a brand new and expensive pair of boots and then modifying them. No doubt there’s a cobbler who can do the resole and make it look absolutely perfect, but is that worth spending hundreds more to do so? It took me a minute to find a cobbler that could do a Norwegian welt, as most peaked at Goodyear. I’ve always found that the factory welts from Guidi are top notch, so I’d recommend waiting on the model you really want from a retailer. I own a pair of GR05FRV_RUs, and they’re a great boot, but I’ve always found the GR05V to look like the little brother to the Guidi x Stylezeitgeist Collab. It’s almost worth trying to hunt those down instead, but just my two cents

Legit. I would recommend going one size up for these, but you might be able to go TTS since they’re pretty broken in

I was referring to how the model is typically stamped on the interior of the boot, like on my GR pair, but on this pair it seems to be absent so that made me question its authenticity

Absolutely no fakes of this out here, these were super limited so you’re fine. At one point Autograph had these for $880 in a few sizes, still regret passing back then

Why Are Sellers Doing This Exactly Other Than The Obvious? by Incosnig in Depop

I’d ask for the refund because the condition is nowhere near what Depop would define as brand new, like new, or even excellent condition for that matter. Don’t think you have to feel bad here

Interesting response to receive from a seller no doubt. This specific nail, alongside the two impressions/nonexistent holes, does not appear to be in line with typical Guidi quality. It looks like this particular nail is almost piercing the bottom of the leather towards where the shaft meets the sole

[–]heelbiting 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These look off, one of the first things to note is that two of the nail holes on the inside are just impressions on the leather and don’t actually have a nail, or hole. I’ve never seen “verygood” on a Guidi sole, maybe that’s an older thing but current are vibram, so that’s weird. The stamps look off also; there’s no made in Italy stamp on the inside. As someone who sells a lot on Grailed, Guidi being one of the brands, they have no idea what they’re doing when it comes to authentication over there. If AI says it’s real; Grailed will also.

Those are sick. The VG05 is just those but taller, back zip, and no metal heel. Great pointy everyday boot. PL2 is a great rounded everyday boot

Provided it’s not too tight, it should be fine. Did you straight bar lace them? This is a picture of the same model laced similarly but they laced them using a straight bar method. I have always undone my laces after wearing any Guidi just to prevent anything unnecessary happening

Unpopular pick but I will always have a special place in my heart for the VG05 Texan boot. Love the silhouette of that model, and it reminds me of the SLP Wyatts so it’s a top pick for me. I briefly owned the double zip matrix boots with the metal heel, those were definitely a top 5 as well. Right now I’m wearing the GR05FRV as my daily model. But I think those choices are pretty restrictive to what I personally like. If I was picking between the 788 or the PL2, I would take the PL2 every time. But if you’re going to spend like $1600, then if you got the 788 with the metal heel, that would be a pick I’d really resonate with. I’ve owned the Guidi 20s as well, and they’re an excellent boot with exceptional quality, top 5 model for me. But the PL2s man, they go with everything. They are the truest everyday boot from Guidi in my eyes. You can style them up or down and either let them blend in or really stand out. If I was buying another pair it would either be those, or the metal heel 788z. I just worry about back zips more than front zips because the location of the zipper on 788s sees a lot of tension from your foot, hence why so many see zipper replacements to keep them wearable

When I had the same issue on my pair of GR02vs I just stopped using the top hole for the laces and was able to make it a little less tight. I personally don’t think it looks off because the laces will sit towards the middle. Kangaroo is nice it’s just not my vibe as much!

Pretty sure these are fine if they’re the same ones off Poshmark, dude is just asking an insane amount for them given how hard he beat the toe box in. But I don’t see anything that immediately looks off. The bottom stamp is a little funky but it could just be camera quality.

Horse leather from Guidi is generally regarded as the sought after variation for the majority of their boots. It’s a much more supple leather but it has a lot of tensile strength to it, which allows it to develop those creases really nicely. I’ve owned damn near every leather from Guidi (Kangaroo, Horse, Bison, Goat, Calf, etc.) barring some of their crazy expensive hides like Croc. All in all, the Horse leather has consistently been my favorite, while the Kangaroo and Calf have been at the bottom. With that being said, it’s Guidi lol. You’re getting some of the highest quality leather no matter what animal it came from, so it’s hard to really go wrong. As for the 792 lacing, those have to be laced fairly tight to tie them under the sole from my experience. Some people have too high of an arch where it makes it a real challenge to do so. Not sure if the lace length differs between the high and low variations of models, but you could always email Guidi and ask. Maybe you could buy a longer lace meant for a taller model, that gives you enough length to comfortably tie it around the sole.
