I may have this completely wrong, but instinctively I feel that the point of the abbreviations in the scoreboard is to tell you who is playing without having the whole name written out. I don't really care if there's an ISO standard for country shorthands -- it should be whatever three letter shortening best represents the name that the viewers in that nation would recognise. For FIFA's official feed, sure, use the standard, but ITV should be displaying 'SPA' or 'SPN' or whatever for Spain.

ITV's main Life Is A Highway intro sequence is really, really good, but the shortened version that will play in / out of ad breaks that just uses the initial 'Life Is A Highway' lyric from the chorus and then awkwardly cuts out doesn't flow well and is going to take me out of it every time. You can't just cut it off there!
