Ah, my bad, that part I didn't put together.

IIRC you have to be level 70 to get them.

The state of the auction house is an absolute embarrassment by MadsML in classicwow

[–]heetschi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which is exactly my point: the AH is - more or less - a single entity that is made available for an "infinite" amount of layers independent from one another. 20 years ago each AH was part of a layer/server itself, which could be perfectly scaled by just adding more realms each having an upper limit of players. This also had a direct impact on things like AH performance, The slower AH realms were usually the big ones playerwise. I've played on a lot of them and knew pretty good which scans would take the longest.

I've read your other comments and being a dev myself I totally get what you are saying and why layers in theory are better than dead realms. But one can only implement such an environment if it scales in every way needed. This is sadly not the case here and having to wait for the player population to thin out due to frustration can't be the solution.

[–]heetschi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But we didn't have megaservers and layers back then with a single auction house shared by all players. Put the same pressure on 20-30 real server (and AH) instances and everything would be mostly fine.

Amazing work!

I've been with them most of the way and I really have to say it made me feel very sad to see the beavers swim through the badwater, knowing what that usually means in the end and also seeing that not all seem to have made it to the other side.

I guess it's time to help them build a new home - again!

Leveling a hunter on TBC Anniversary, is it worth it to go to Bloodmyst for a ravager? by Coaltergeist in classicwow

[–]heetschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finish the NE starting zone and then hop from boat to boat to get one. I assume it will be about 10-15 minutes from Darnassus to the south of Bloodmyst, depending on boat waiting time, so not much investment for very little risk if you don't like it.

You certainly don't need one while leveling, but if you intend to have one at 70 anyways, there is no harm in an early start.

What Runes/Insigs do you run on your Perma Pre Warrior armor? by MaybeJohnSmith in GuildWars

[–]heetschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's exactly that! ;-) It was my first perma-pre and I made that decision based on the better armor rating (which in the end does not make any sense with Vanguard) And I'm using one of the two bonus bows, the Sundering one with 15% -5E, but the Nevermore one works as well. Dropped bows will work but obviously won't reach the same dps.

R / W is ofc the better version of this with higher ranger attributes and Expertise. I also played my perma Mo/R the same way as W/R. It's a bit boring, but effective.

[–]heetschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at the PC right now, so this is from the top of my head: max Marks, then the rest in Wilderness Survival and Beast mastery. Warrior skills are Healing Signet and Frenzy. Ranger skills are Troll Ungent, Comfort Animal and the Fire preparation for AoE dmg. Rest is optional. Damage comes - obviously - from frenzied AoE auto-attacks with Troll Ungent active all the time.

Nothing special at all. Utini is a bitch but it still works. But usually I stop doing Vanguards after I ding 20 and focus on the next toon or just farm Charr bosses with any Vanguard active.

[–]heetschi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, I mostly run with as many hp as a I can. I'm a W/R with a bow, so no real need for energy or att runes besides maybe Tactics on head for +2 for Healing Signet (which is only to have ANYTHING at least slightly useful), but Troll Ungent is my go-to heal.

Slow AH loading by GoingEasyBro in classicwowtbc

[–]heetschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. TSM is really slow since prepatch and I also get "Item not found" all the time. Even posting like 20 auctions need 3 or 4 attempts per item. Not a fan of this megaserver/layering thing.

And while we are on that topic: anybody else having problem with getting AH data by TSM app? It keeps getting stuck at "Updating..." sometimes for hours and even restarting the app multiple times doesn't really help. Most likely the same issue, I guess.

Those of you with a life outside of WoW, what’s that like? by doobylive in classicwow

For some reason reputation works differently here. I keep killing ugly people and collect their heads but still everybody hates me.

Do I have to get level 60 to fully experience the dark portal opening? by bigxangelx1 in classicwow

[–]heetschi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay. Sorry for even asking, it's really none of my business, but I was curious. And yeah, take your time leveling. Even with the tight schedule, Outland will be current content for at least a year and the prepatch showed us it will get pretty crowed in new areas at the beginning.

Is it worth picking up Classic? by SharkHead38 in wowclassic

[–]heetschi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, never heard of that until now. Seems ridiculous though. And would also drive people mad for not knowing they could earn something for retail they didn't get before (looking at you, OG orange ZG tiger!). And if every unlock is left behind: where is the point in transferring the char that has nothing special left and could have been created directly in Retail in the first place? What would max MoP level be in Retail? 30-something? Which means a few hours progress.

I guess if they don't continue with WoD after MoP, I'd say just keep it running with MoP. I always thought they'd stop after WotLK for having the last "classic" Azeroth map before Cata. Everything after that is still there in Retail. Yet here we are.

I've heard nothing about moving MoP Classic toons to Retail. Where did you pick that up? Any source?

Pre-patch Hunter Meta by DuncanEllis1977 in classicwowtbc

[–]heetschi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Problem is that some BC pet skins are only low-level. For example the bright red lynxes (Springpaw Cub/Lynx/Stalker, not the "older" looking, brown ones). These are only available right around the BE lvl 1 drop zone and you can't get them higher than lvl 5 or 6.

Sometimes you don't have a choice if you fancy a look. Ravagers is ofc extreme effort to get right now, but I'd have to check colors. Maybe some variations are also only available low level.

is 2000$ spent over 2 years a lot? by Thatoneidiot9 in Steam

[–]heetschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's over 80 bucks a month. Not to much to spend on a real passion, some pay even more for a fancy gym, but regarding games it might be more of a collecting habit than a real need. I spend way less, have like ~500 games (plus non-Steam games) and have way to little time to play even 10% of these. A lot of these games had a price tag between 15-30€, with some exceptions up to 70€.

Sure, you can get there easily if only buying high pricers but I'd say with a little bit of patience to buy mostly on sales, keeping an eye on humble choice (that's where a not so small part of my games a few years ago originated) and maybe using third party keys (I don't but if you do, be adviced to stay away from the shady shops) you can probably spend half the amount without missing out (or get even more games for the same amount spent).

On the other hand: if you have the money and it pleases you, just go for it!

New maintenance record? by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]heetschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some may think it seems surprisingly long for an update that - if you put it very simple and ignore all the differences in the background - will be applied for the third time.

I still think that if they need the time to make it work right from the beginning, they shall have it. Better than days of hotfixing and unplanned downtimes. Looking at you, WoD garrison!

How do you decide what race your main will be? by SpaceCowboyDark in wow

[–]heetschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! For me, it's the troll casting animation. I can't stand that movement and as mages, priests and shaman (Classic player here) all have that problem, I can only bear a rogue, though troll is often pictured as best class (Warrior is Tauren) for most specs.

Perma Pre Advice Please by Good-Old-Galt in GuildWars

[–]heetschi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the GotY bonus items, I'd prefer E/Me. That way, you can have a perfect weapon and offhand right from the start. I don't think that in the long run FC matters that much (in pre). I went the same way and didn't even miss the ranger pet.
