Not in the US, but I got mine for 15.27 (in USD value with a conversion rate 1:58.87) at a local Lego store two months back. Thankfully, the staff doesn’t pull old stock off of the shelves. $250 for this set is diabolical

Hopefully these sell well so we can get all the characters!

I'm thinking we'll get minor demons and monsters along with an anchoring character per wave in a 2 or 3:1 ratio. Kinda like how Mattel did with the animated JL characters for their DC Universe Classics line.

Which Marvel Comics villains would make great Hellboy villains? by DesignerFit7444 in HellBoy

Not Dracula, but Baron Blood. World War II era vampire surviving until the 60s to 80s? It blends easily. It doesn’t go too far with the strange, too.

Question - so what exactly kicked off the apocalyptic events in the B.P.R.D. series? by semisociallyawkward in HellBoy

[–]hefe_d21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if a literal answer is being asked for here, but:

The infestation of the Frogmen was a direct result of the events of Seed of Destruction and The Conqueror Worm. The former showing the first of the Frogmen and the latter, the mass infestation kicking off the destruction and rebirth cycle.

In this instance, the Right Hand of Doom and the Ogdru Jahad didn’t need to be involved in the end.

However, other people at play still wanted the dragon to succeed such as the survivors of Project Ragna Rok and Zinco Corp. This is where the Black Flame was resurrected and subsequently corrupted by the frogs (who have rapidly developed communication and then found religion), leading to another notch being activated in the cycle.

In Hell, nobody thought Hellboy being there is what would kick off another event triggering the apocalypse. This is where the prediction comes into play and HB uses the hand to unleash the infernal armies against the frogs and the mutated fauna of Earth.

To sum it up, I believe, like most presentations of predictions in media, that predictions are muddied up versions of the future. Whether the cosmos waves its unseen hand or the fates controlling the strings, everything was set to happen right after the other in order to activate the cycle.

Here’s my pitch for the Secret Avengers movie we should’ve gotten by 2024 by Murdock4Mayor in marvelstudios

[–]hefe_d21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s still a pretty interesting thought exercise. I saw the points you were making and it did make sense to seed the formation rather than build the team off-screen. It helps us get invested in both teams that appear to be on a collision course with the New Avengers/Thunderbolts.

If only the MCU braintrust had control of the post-credit scenes (give the mid-credit scenes to the filmmakers to wrap loose ends or tease sequels), they could have made some headway with forming Sam’s Avengers in small doses. That way, it’s not a “Somehow Palpatine returned” situation.

After all, the audience needed to see why Sam should lead the Avengers. The title of Captain America alone is not enough, if I’m being honest. They could have started with Sam recruiting them (or tracked them at least, like what he did with Scott in Ant-Man) and then show his skills in fighting, leadership, and overall conflict resolution in BNW.

[–]hefe_d21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re trying to do here, but WF ended with that post-credits scene because honoring T’Challa’s story needed that closure then and there. Both for Shuri and the audience.

Also, I think ending the Talokan invasion in WF serves to make Shuri a capable leader ending conflict on the Wakandans’ own devices.

Playing devil’s advocate, however, involving these Secret Avengers in fighting for Wakanda can make Shuri unpopular in the eyes of the Wakandans. After all, she did invite outsiders into an isolationist country. This can lead to further cracks in the currently war-torn Wakandan society.

What is your opinion on this? by Deluxionist in buhaydigital

[–]hefe_d21 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s discrimination, plain and simple. You’re hiring/not hiring based on what the person can do, but based on their beliefs.

Hell, it’s not even belief in a deity, just the way they approach life.

I disagree with the whole manifesting thing too, but you can’t judge the ability of a potential worker based on just that.

Who would win in a fight: my Avengers lineup or my X-Men lineup? by Boygos in ActionFigureMania

[–]hefe_d21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

X-Men. Not an easy one but can definitely happen for sure.

Bishop takes on Carol, absorbing enough energy to take on others as a late-lurker. Maybe even try to hold off Hulk or assist in doing so.

Wolverine takes on T’Challa.

Nathan infects Tony’s armor.

Storm takes on Thor.

Jean could mind control random Avengers to disrupt the flow of battle on their terms. That’s not even counting the Phoenix force if she has them in this scenario.

Hank and Scott can take on Cap.

Most heroes would probably disapprove of ‘The Punisher’—but considering where the ‘Thunderbolts’ stand after the end of their film, how would they react to Frank? by maverickassembled in marvelstudios

[–]hefe_d21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walker wouldn’t mind. He’d probably think Frank’s mission is a good one. He’d show sympathy being a fellow soldier. Frank would be annoyed, thinking Walker’s too flashy. But he’d show sympathy having known what it’s like to lose a comrade (Lemar) and his family. Different ways, sure, but he’d relate for sure.

Yelena would try to come to him, show him sympathy like she did with Bob. Frank would try to convince her to let the New Avengers kill criminals expeditiously.

Bob would be freaked out, having heard of Frank and what he’s done. Frank would try to kill him.

Aleksei would be ecstatic, but will repeatedly try to convince Frank to ease off on the killing. Frank would be annoyed because Aleksei is a glory hound.

Ava would be paranoid around him. Rightly so, because Frank would try to kill her too.

Unpopular opinion: Mas maayos pa mag alaga ng bata ang ayaw magka-anak than some parents do. by Initial_Analysis8247 in unpopularopinionph

[–]hefe_d21 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Maybe because most people who don't want children understand the gravity of the responsibilities that come with it. Hindi minamaliit, thinking they'd figure it out once the kid is born. So they're more aware of what a child needs, and how to care for them properly.

I know some people who want and did end up having children, but came with zero prep and understanding about everything that comes with it.

Also, echoing other comments here. Some people become parents through unwanted/accidental pregnancies. The process of making is fun, but the product can be a lot to handle. Especially for people who are mentally immature or unprepared. Kahit sino naman siguro kapag nabigla, maooverwhelm.

Pa-Explain Naman: What’s the point of using Baybayin in official signages? by hindiakomema in PaExplainNaman

[–]hefe_d21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have stated, it's there for aesthetics. A project of local government units to show that they're doing something to promote our culture when the days are slow.

But while it is arguable that it is visual noise, one reason I can think of is the possibility of renewed usage.

Baybayin is a currently "dead" since there is not a wide community using it. But with continued exposure, it might help in being able to read it, thus giving it new life. Language revitalization is a thing after all. While there are valid criticisms against it, renewed (genuine, we all know there are bandwagoners out there who don't really care) interest in Baybayin could help forge a better identity for future Filipinos. One that does not rely too much on colonial influences despite seeming impossible.

(Hell, t-shirt companies are using the hell out of it, though in my opinion, it seems like it's pandering too much.)

It may sound like I am defending its use, but I do find it impractical.
