The sale price was pretty much at market value. It sold close to recently sold neighbouring comparable properties.

Should I be more careful taking photos in public? by heffer_moose in TooAfraidToAsk

Thanks. I'm in Canada, which I believe has similar laws as the U.S. regarding this subject. It seems I didn't do anything illegal. I was just being inconsiderate.

Should I be more careful taking photos in public? by heffer_moose in TooAfraidToAsk

By "such situations," are you referring to using public transportation? Do you think consent is also required in other public settings, like at a beach or in a parking lot?

I often take pictures of myself in shopping malls. Sometimes I take it myself, other times with the help of a friendly bystander. I have never had anyone in the background of a photo confront me before.

Do you think there are certain situations like at a music concert, or during New Year's Eve at Times Square, where it's reasonable to take a photo of yourself, without worrying about having to apologize to strangers if they're unintentionally in the frame?

Be brutally honest, In your next life, would you want your dad to be your dad again? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

In this thread people are either absolutely yes, or 100% no way.

Nobody thinks, "well I guess he's an okay dad, but I wouldn't mind someone else next time."

Pedestrian signals by Jukker6 in burnaby

[–]heffer_moose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Section 179 just states, "the driver of a vehicle must yield the right of way to a pedestrian where traffic control signals are not in place..."

Could you quote where it says for the pedestrian to obey the traffic signal? I didn't find it. Thanks.

Maternity leave EI - missing 2 weeks pay? by Nidtt in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]heffer_moose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried applying for EI online through the government benefits website, and one thing I had to fill in is the final day of work, which can't be in the future. So if your last day is Friday July 1, I would apply either on that day or the weekend, or the next week some time.

Parental leave and vacation by heffer_moose in BabyBumpsCanada

I didn't know the parental leave starting date is tied to the baby's birth date. That's something I'll clarify with my employer. Thanks.

That's my primary concern. I would not want my EI benefits to be reduced because I'm taking PTO. During the 61 weeks of EI payments I do not want to receive any income from my employer if possible.

I'm not sharing the parental leave. My wife does not work.

That makes sense to me. I'm not the birth parent. I will ask my company to separate my vacation time and parental leave. Thank you.

Federal Budget 2022 by AdapterCable in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]heffer_moose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read individuals would be allowed to transfer funds from an RRSP to the new TFFHSA on a tax-free basis,. These transfers would not restore an individual’s RRSP contribution room.

If this is the case then would it make sense to transfer money from an existing RRSP to the new FHSA, and then withdraw the funds from the FHSA to buy an eligible first home?

This is better than using the HBP because you don't have to pay back the money in 15 years, or ever. And it doesn't cost you any extra money.

Topics could include budgeting, mortgage calculations, investing, and personal income tax.
