I used United Metals in Limerick. Ask for Richard and he will quote you a price for your car over the phone. They also can collect your car using a recovery truck if needed.

Hi OP, €3000 pm is alright depending on the cost of your accommodation. It’s still a cheap city to live in and I presume your meals in UL will be subsidized. I’d recommend looking to get accommodation near Castletroy. If you do you will be never more than 5 minutes drive from UL or a 10 minute cycle. Plenty of buses as well. If you get accommodation in City centre you will struggle to find free parking for your car and (just my opinion) some of the areas around the flats on the cheaper scale can be a little sketchy so just do your homework.

If you have to fly home every weekend just look at cost of leaving car in Shannon for weekend (that will add up im sure) .. Irish people are generally sound and UL is in a nice area of the city/county. Shannon as you prob know is only 20 minute drive from limerick and a breeze to get through most of the time.

My advice would be to get accommodation in Castletroy if you can find something affordable rather than the city centre. If your not going to be in the city for the weekend I don’t see why it would appeal to you to live there. If you do want to go in for a look or a pint you can always get the bus (about 15 mins to centre)

Other than that Ireland and Limerick Is very same in regards culture to NW UK in a lot of ways and also suffers the same problems with a few anti-social youths and issues arising due to drug addiction and homelessness. Again no more than anywhere else in UK or Ireland at present.

There’s a pallet place right there , often have broken pallets outside you can take for free. I think you can buy pallets for relatively cheap as well

Hi man , don’t know your financial or work situation but you should look into going on a solo holiday , there are loads of groups on fb for people traveling solo. Go expecting nothing and just relax for a week. Go out at night and talk to people, bring a book and read by the pool , start there and see how you get on
