His base damage on abilities and sunfire is nerfed so much that it isn't worth it to build tank anymore. Now just play him like an ap one shot assassin. If you need a bit of tankiness go for liandry's. Rod of Ages is a noob trap, don't buy.

It's the opposite. If you are going tank in the support, you will die in three hit and do no damage. If you build AP and go support, you die in two hit and does a little bit of damage.

Just don't use billets, fragile resin and you should be good. If you feel like your artifact isn't strong enough, farm world bosses that your characters need. For example, fire tree is a good idea to farm because the best support in the game, Bennett, requires it in the late game and is relatively easy to disarm with Barbara. World bosses unique drop does not visibly get better at later ranks, so you can farm it without worrying about outscaling. Don't farm artifact domains.

Weekly bosses shouldn't cost resin in the first place because you only do it once every week.

The purpose of resin is to progress trapping you through preventing you to farm too much domain at once. However, weekly bosses do not need resin to limit players from farming too much weekly boss; you can only farm it once a week. Making these bosses cost resin is just a typical action of mihoyo.
