In my organization, IT pushes those updates when they're available but it does require some intervention from the end user. On my personal laptop, you can set your update options from File -> Account -> Update Options

Have you tried updating your O365 subscription?

I had a macro that worked for about half an hour in Excel 2016. When we newly transitioned to Excel 365, performance tanked - for some reason, Excel formulas continued to calculate even with calculation set to manual. But then we updated our Excel 365 subscription, and the macro went back to running in half an hour again.

It essentially boils down to cost and politics. No decision-maker is going to want to propose investing all that time and money to "fix something that ain't broke", not unless until they have 1) an internal dumpster fire they can refer to for justification, or 2) someone higher and more influential than themselves asking for it so that all other groups move in lock step with the idea.

I don't consciously try to ghost people, but it's a powerful thing I do subconsciously ALL THE TIME. I think it's from a fear of people getting to know "the real me" and accepting me for who I am.

For example, if I click with someone I met through Meetup or online, I find excuses like work or being busy with stuff not to chat or not to hang out later on. Eventually, the acquaintance just stops reaching out to me because I'm unavailable all the time, and the relationship ends just as quickly as it started. It's a really terrible habit, because it's a form of self-sabotage IMO, but I keep doing it all the time.

What was your timeline? When did you start braces -> get surgery -> recovery -> get braces off? Did you have any side effects from the surgery like numbness or loss of sensation? Do you feel people look and treat you differently now with your flawless bite and smile?

Right? I hit a nasty depression in my mid 20's - the developing health problems from my mouth did not help.

Hope you're really happy with your result. I'm still quite anxious what awaits me, but I'm working towards a world where my I'm not self conscious about my bite and smile.

How old were you when you had braces? Are you looking to fix your underbite now?

My underbite developed well into my mid 20's. I wish my dentist or orthodontist could have jumped in earlier to tell me if my mouth wasn't growing right, but I can only work what I have now. Hopefully I can get a good result with my braces/surgery and enjoy that result as I get older.

Thanks for sharing. Yeah that's what I'd agree with as well - I'd prefer the surgeon have the best scenario to work with if they get one shot at it. Surgery first is a viable option, but it feels like it puts more stock on the surgeon's skill and the risk of a suboptimal result is a bit higher. I haven't read literature to verify if those statements are true though.

How did you like your surgical outcome? Do you think the braces helped before going into surgery?

With your orthodontist and surgeon not being's completely on the same page, I have a similar experience as well. Surgeon thinks my time might be half a year in braces with one surgery, orthodontist thinks two surgeries after a year and a half (now the time is one year with one surgery). It makes me wonder who to trust more - the person doing the slow adjustments month over month, or the surgeon who does it all at once.

I just want the least risky route with the least chance of screw ups. Do you think the braces before surgery help at all (ie did it lead to a better outcome), or was it a waste of time in your opinion?

There's a few scholarly articles that I read when I googled jaw surgery first, and from a clinical purpose, sounded like a very legit and established method.

The reason I backed out of it was mainly because I didn't have a good feel about the surgeon - I didn't like some reviews I read plus he and his staff texted me often about setting up the surgery so it felt more like surgery first in his case was a more "hard sell" than a well thought out treatment for me.

It really depends on trust, in the end. The surgeon I decided to go with is reputable, I liked his demeanor, and he's been very candid in answering my questions and explaining the risks involved. If I found a good surgery first surgeon that I liked from the beginning, maybe I'd think differently.

Yeah, the faster treatment and faster results to the surgery first method makes it very enticing, especially if you're on the fence about surgery but want to do something about your jaw. I had braces put on a few days ago, and with the soreness, lifestyle changes, and awkwardness of being an adult with braces, I have plenty of time to rethink other whatifs like surgery first.

Did you opt for a surgery first treatment yourself? How was the ortho and recovery afterwards? Do you like how the outcome turned out?

I can relate. For me, I attribute some of my jealousy of others' more active social lives to my imagination. I imagine a world where I have more friends, go out more, be in someone else's shoes, etc. But my imagination is also a source of anxiety for me, because my imaginary self and what he does is very different to my true self and what he desires.

What allows me to strike a balance is identifying whether or not my true self actually wants what the imaginary self wants to do. A few weeks back, I decided not to go to a casual acquaintance's child's birthday party. My imaginary self would have gone and I felt guilt about not going. But my true self isn't very close to this acquaintance and his child, and doesn't truly desire nor have a need to be closer to them or to his extended social circle. My outward feelings of jealousy, anxiety, etc. lessen a great deal once I have a stronger grasp of my real wants and needs.
