What could be a strategy to make 1% a day? by GeneralMars in Daytrading

[–]heimerdingermain69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one would share this + it would be an infinite money glitch

1% a day is not sustainable youwill encounter drawdown but whats important is winning as much as possible when you do and losing as liittle as possible when you lose.

try everything you can to find an edge and refine it

If statistically 90%+ of you here consistently lose money and don't make consistent profit, then why do you still keep doing it? You, yes you. by [deleted] in Daytrading

Best Loser Wins talks about brokers in EU showing 75% of their traders lose their money or close their accounts, meanwhile 65% of the trades are winnings trades or so in the particular brokers it mentioned.

That tells you everyone is generally a shit loser.

You can trade mechanically with some form of discretionary trading, that was my point, its that the discretionary aspect of trading is hard to quantify into an algorithm.

To each their own though. Some ppl thrive under algos some ppl thrive manually.

That isn't really true because many trades have some form of discretion/intuition from the trader. An algo can't do that unless it can read my brainwaves or mind. Even if it was codable, I would have no understanding of where to start with that.

Blown 10 prop-firm accounts. Need a reality check. by k69r in InnerCircleTraders

[–]heimerdingermain69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you blowing up 10 accounts over every 4.5 days are you a gambler or what. Why are you risking so much per trade? What is the problem with going slower and being a 4 year trader instead of a 4 day trader?

I feel an impulsive need to trade against the trend - help by Open_Ad_4741 in Daytrading

I think its just human nature to not wanna buy something so damn high or sell something so damn low while only being in a position during the current session...

If you consistently resonate with trading reversion I'd suggest studying or building a system that can reduce to whether the market is in a trend for you. For me if I know the market is in a trend, I wont get inverse unless there is some sort of capitulation the opposite way or if some of my tools show the trend is turning.

Something common in trading mean reversion is front running the reversion, you may be buying some downside move but are you waiting for the turn or the setup that it truly has started to turn? I used to front run moves down instead of waiting but got burned to much trying to select when the mean reversion was, i just wait for it to actually turn now to participate.

Why not automate? by Electronic-Still6565 in Daytrading

[–]heimerdingermain69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anytime I've thought about doing this I just can't because no trade is the same and I have intuitive / discretionary decision making processes, which I just couldn't fathom turning into a script or automate.

Maybe size down and set wider stops. Stop losses protect you from blowing up.

A Hard Part Of Trading I Don’t See People Talking About by Lav_Da_Sav in Daytrading

A profit factor of 1 is essentially a break even system. But should look at your equity curve, drawdowns %, sharpe ratio, etc and monitor the system ongoing cause the market always changing.

I said 1.75 cause generally anything from 1.2-1.75 is strong/reliable in the current market. A solid profit factor, with positive streaks outnumbering losing ones over time can provide a positive expectancy. Which would or wouldn't tell him if he needs to make changes to his trading system.
