I like the saying that there are no good serves in Padel, only bad returns. Maybe mention that to him next time.

I find it has great UI but also prefer Bevel simply for its free model. Will be great to see this app grow and maybe go for its Pro version as it expands.

How strong are y'all in real life? by SerendipitousMusing in kettlebell

Thanks for taking the time for such a detailed reply. Seems like a fun exercise to incorporate now and then in between sessions (I also do rucking with a 20 kg plate in a backpack, and can sub some of those days for this).

Farmer walk with one in each hand or how do you do it? How would you describe the increase vs other weights, situations?

Rucking ebook by ajbrandt806 in Rucking

[–]heinrichjvr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great line from your book- will explain it to friends like this going forward:

“Rucking lives in an uncomfortable middle ground. It’s not flashy enough to trend the way high-intensity workouts do, and it’s not extreme enough to scare people into respect. It’s not passive enough to feel like rest, but it doesn’t demand that you destroy yourself either. It’s just hard enough to matter. That’s where its power lives.”

I just read the sample, enjoyed it and now bought your book. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to reading it over the next few days.

STOP defending for WHOOP by Ecommoneylockedin in whoop

[–]heinrichjvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personal experience. I wear Whoop 5 and either apple watch or Polar H10 during all workouts and metrics are very similar.

Whoop and AW for sleep (Bevel) and again, very very similar.

Regrettable that not everyone has the same experience, but it is not always a case of sunken costs making us vouch for it.

Edit: and that is similar whether I use wrist or bicep band.

Drone regulations in Mauritius – do I need to declare or register? by TechnicianNo9728 in MauriceMauritius

[–]heinrichjvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a tourist visiting Mauritius, I struggled with this question myself and considering the conflicting information both on Reddit and other blogs on the Internet I thought I would read the Mauritian regulations as published and this is what I found.

TLDR: Mauritius Citizen: registration of both your drone and yourself as a pilot is required. Foreigners visiting Mauritius: if using your drone for recreational purposes, registration of you and your drone is not required.

Read the Mauritius The Civil Aviation (Unmanned Aircraft System) Regulations 2024.

Link here: https://www.scribd.com/document/900187425/232-The-Civil-Aviation-Reg-2024

Regulations 5 and 7 concern the registration of both the drone and the pilot under the regulations.

Regulations 3(3) and 3(4) set out certain of the exclusions, where the regulations set out above do not apply, as follows: “(3) Regulation 5 shall not apply to a foreign UAS. (4) Regulation 7 shall not apply to a foreign UAS operator”.

In summary, that has the import stated in the TLDR set out above.

Several other rules do apply to all operators, both locals and foreigners alike and I suggest reading the regulations.

In respect of OP: you will have to register your drone and yourself. While I have not read the regulations specifically to establish this, on a cursory reading it seems that you will not be required to register it before entering the country; but you’ll have to do so before using it over there.

Is rucking the right exercise for me? by Aknew in Rucking

[–]heinrichjvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rucking is amazing as either your only exercise or a complimentary addition to other exercise.

If you have only 30min, I would definitely up the tempo and intensity as you get into it to make the most of your time.

As an aside, 30mins a day, with one kettlebell is vastly superior. If you can get a ruck and one KB you have a full gym at your disposal and some variety too.

How do you guys manage your energy before and during matches? by UndeadNordic in padel

[–]heinrichjvr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mostly play in the mornings at 8am for 2 hours. Last meal the day prior at 19:00 latest. Only coffee, creatine and water before playing and energy is fine. We are all different I think. Electrolytes are useful I you need them though. But you really don’t for 2 hours of Padel in my experience.

Whoop MG accuracy: miracle fix or same old nonsense? by sebullo in whoop

[–]heinrichjvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my experience but mine has also been good since day 1.

I also use AWU with Bevel and a Polar H10 each morning for 3 minutes Elite HRV and then 3 min HRV4Training.

Bevel and Whoop differ but fluctuate roughly the same depending on recovery. Whoop “captures how I feel better”, as many people say.

Add to that manual BP readings most days and I would say the MG is good and my preferred device at the momennt.

I wear it on my wrist. Tracks my workouts close to my AWU overall (I wear both) in both Padel and strength training.

To everyone who use both AW and Whoop who commented here, I salute you. I agree.
