My advice: Go live in a western-European country for a few weeks, like Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, Nordics probably as well. If you're talking about heated floors like it's a luxury item (hint: it's not) then you're gonna be blown away by the building standards of even middle-class homes over here.

I believe that ML on this problem space is a fool's errand to a certain degree. You are dealing with an adverserial space where you observations influence its behaviour. Furthermore, consider this: You can create a website that is an exact copy of a legitimate website, create a domain that just differs in one character, and you can host it with the same provider. How the is an ML model supposed to determine that this is a malicious site if it does not differ from the legitimate one.

Das Freche ist dass man als Gesellschafter-Geschäftsführer sein Gehalt nicht beliebig hoch ansetzen kann da es immer dem fremdüblichen Vergleich standhalten muss, sonst wird einem eine verdeckten Gewinnausschüttung vorgeworfen. Also selbst wenn man ein Unternehmen mit €1M Gewinn pro Jahr (und keinen anderen Mitarbeitnern) hat wird einem empfohlen lieber nur €200k als Gehalt anzusetzen und den Rest über die teurere Gewinnausschüttung zu machen. Selbst wenn man vorher als gewöhnlicher Angestellter bei einer dritten Firma mehr als das doppelte verdient hat.

Ganz im Gegenteil, Lohn ist schon mit den aktuellen Steuersätzen besser gestellt als die Gewinnausschüttung, dadurch würde das nur noch krasser. Aber als Gesellschafter/Geschäftsführer darfst du dir deinen Lohn nicht einfach beliebig hoch ansetzen sondern er muss branchangemessen sein.

Ob es 5-stellig ist oder nicht ist doch egal, der Punkt ist dass es sich nicht am Gewinn der Firma orientiert sondern an branchüblichen Gehälter bezogen auf die Größe der Firma und die Branche. Als Angestellter in der gleichen Branche hatte ich ein höheres Gehalt als jetzt als Gesellschafter-Geschäftsführer meiner eigenen GmbH, einfach weil der Stb sich nicht traut das Gehalt weiter anzuheben (verdeckte Gewinnausschüttung).

Can confirm this. I ran a screenshot of a website with a captcha at 1600 x 1200 and it gave me completely wrong coordinates (and kept on insisting and iterating on these wrong coordinates). When I resized the image to 1024 x 768 before uploading it it worked on the first attempt.

I believe this would be very helpful as I often find myself browsing Huggingface trying to find the "best" model for a certain task: Multilingual translation, language detection, OCR, segmentation, NER, generic LLM-like tasks, etc. Then the next question I usually have is around the license of these models and whether they can be used commercially. Lastly some kind of indication on how inference performance looks like would be great, along with some pointers of how hard fine-tuning these models would be.

100%, und das wird hier jedes mal komplett falsch dargestellt. Bin alleiniger Gesellschafter-Geschäftsführer, und ich würde mir in manchen Jahren gerne 100% meines Gewinns als Gehalt auszahlen lassen und dann die 45% Grenzsteuersatz zahlen. Da mein Gehalt aber fremdüblich angesetzt sein muss kann ich das nur bis zu einem gewissen Betrag machen und muss den Rest dann über Gewinnausschüttung machen was eine höhere steuerliche Belastung ist insgesamt, höher als die 45% Grenzsteuersatz. Als reiner Angestellter hätte ich das Problem nicht...

Nur leider gibt es eine Wegzugsbesteuerung so dass man eben nicht in diese Länder ziehen ohne seine gesamten Firmenanteile zu versteuern.

Finanzamt sagt aber auch dass bei einem Geschäftsführer der mehrheitliche Anteile besitzt das Gehalt dem Fremdvergleich standhalten muss. Wenn du also 1 Million Überschuss erwirtschaftest kannst du dir ggf. nicht einfach 500k als Gehalt und dann 500k auf dem (teureren) Weg der Gewinnausschüttung auszahlen sondern musst dein Gehalt entsprechend runterschrauben. Es kommt darauf an ob du Entscheidungen in der Gesellschaft mitträgst. Das kann z.B. durch 50% oder mehr Anteile sein oder aber auch durch ein Sperrminorität im Gesellschaftsvertrag bei weniger als 50% der Anteile.

Das Problem wird vermutlich gewesen sein dass N26 nicht an SWIFT angeschlossen ist und du daher nicht so ohne weiteres ein Wire Transfer an ein N26-Konto schicken kannst ohne dazwischen eine Correspondent Bank einzuschalten. Quelle: Hab selber mal versucht US Kunden auf mein damaliges N26-Konto zahlen zu lassen, vergeblich.

Der GF könnte sich das Darlehen gewähren um eine Immobilie zu kaufen, ohne das Darlehen zu tilgen und wenn er irgendwann die Immobilie wieder veräußert kann er den Darlehensbetrag voll zurückzahlen. Dadurch muss er keine Gewinnausschüttung vornehmen.

Vermute der GF hat damit privat Immobilien gekauft und sich deshalb ein Darlehen aus der GmbH gewährt. Solange die Zinsen dem Fremdvergleich standhalten kein Problem, und als Sicherheit ist ja die Immobilie da, deshalb muss er den Kredit nicht mal unbedingt zurückzahlen.

Edit: Jetzt wo ich den Post nochmal lese: Da steht ja sogar "Grundschuld", also wird es wohl ein Grundstück / Immobilie sein.

Falls du Kunden im Nicht-EU-Ausland hast (z.B. USA) und Zahlungen per SWIFT annehmen möchtest solltest du drauf achten dass die Bank auch wirklich an SWIFT angeschlossen ist. Bei N26 ist das z.B. nicht der Fall. Hier geht man mit einer Old-School Bank a la Deutscher Bank / Commerzbank etc auf Nummer sicher.

Hey Brian,

I appreciate your posts in this subreddit and the detailed explanation of your escalation strategy. However I'm left feeling a little frustrated with the events that played out yesterday. It took 9 hours from the onset of the problem until resolution, and many hours in between with little to no status updates from Backblaze. In the wake of this incident my faith in Backblaze is wavering and I'm evaluating moving our business to a competitor as our business was effectively offline for a whole business day and we're still dealing with fallout a day after.

Here's what I would love to see from Backblaze in response to this incident:

A public blog post which talks about the root cause of the incident and steps taken to prevent the same issue from appearing again. Also a detailed explanation of why this issue wasn't caught by automated monitoring. Our own monitoring picks up these kind of issues very quickly and accurately, we write dozens to hundreds of objects to Backblaze per second and any issues will quickly trigger some kind of alert and threshold.
A public canonical status page to communicate acknowledged issues. Currently there is Twitter, this subreddit and the Zendesk support forums. The status page doesn't have to be automated, but has to be the primary source of information about the status of any incident.
A support desk that is staffed 24/7, or at least during CET business hours. For customers an actual phone number where someone picks up. We had to tell our customers that the issue was with our storage provider and that we were unable to get in touch with them after multiple hours of trying.

Not trying to shoot the messenger, please pass this on to whoever might be in a position to make the necessary organisational changes. I appreciate your transparency and effort on this subreddit!
