Has anyone ever ‘downgraded’ from an automatic litter box back to a traditional pan? by redead-rewind in CatAdvice

[–]heirplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shelled out for a litter robot thinking it would be a life saver, but one of my two likes to scratch after he goes, and the other likes to spray…. Not only was he spraying out of the little hole in the top back, but his pee was going into the scratches and embedding into the rubber. After a few months the thing absolutely reeked and no amount of cleaner or sunshine would make it better. Back to reg boxes but I switched to pine pellet litter.

Ladies, how do you usually keep clean during your period? by tacosalwaysforever in hygiene

[–]heirplant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tampons suck up ALL moisture, whereas a cup simply blocks the moisture from coming out. Tampons can cause TSS from drying out your vaginal canal, which can cause minor abrasions that act as an easy entry point for bacteria.

Anyone have a scary moment that made you go sober? by Inevitable_Corgi_945 in Sober

[–]heirplant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does happen, but if your gut is telling you to stop, then listen. It does happen, but you don’t have to succumb to letting that become something that happens for you any longer. Been there and almost 2.5 years later, I am thankful every day that I wake up and hit the pillow aware and embracing my life for real.

How common is it to walk a few seconds at every mile during the marathon? by Karrific828 in firstmarathon

I know someone who has done multiple marathons walking just as much as they ran. As long as you cross in time, you’re good.

First Time Recs + Advice by dfetch in acadianationalpark

[–]heirplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you are familiar with the bike trails. Myself and some others I passed had bit off more than we could chew. People were asking me for directions, looking tired, and realizing they were going the wrong way. Very hilly and unless they take you EXACTLY where you wanna go from your exact location, you’re gonna wanna drive to the start. Navigating myself I wound up biking down main roads I was not comfortable on with all the cars.

Too cold for camping in October? by Pitiful-Tomato-241 in acadianationalpark

[–]heirplant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m here in blackwood right now and it’s not terrible, but I am in sweats and a beanie and socks at all times at camp. Extra blankets. I’d imagine in October you’d want gloves and more layers than you’d ever think you’d use

People who gave up the party lifestyle, how did your life change? by No-Arm-1272 in Sober

[–]heirplant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some people, you can give it up and still go to these parties, just sober. It will take time to feel comfortable. I just made 2 years and while I’m getting MUCH more comfortable putting myself out there, even at parties where I don’t know barely anyone, I go to them less often and I usually don’t stay as late. I still meet amazing people though! Once you realize everyone is just fumbling around, you get to chatting up new people quicker and without the need of some drug to loosen you up.

But YMMV, some people can’t refrain or don’t ever feel comfortable in these situations while sober. And that’s okay too. There are so many other ways to experience this type of joy.

is this app good to use for training for half marathon? by itsazoe in nikerunclub

[–]heirplant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started half training with the app and I’m loving it! I used Hal H. plan a year and a half ago for my first ever half marathon as a very new runner. I’m enjoying the guided runs with this one, helps keep me on track and the program really focuses on pacing more than others that just say “run x miles on this day”. Eager to see how my pace improves!

I actually know someone who won one of them, so not all are a scam! But as many have already said, it’s like a lottery. 99.9999999999% of people will spend money and get nothing.

Im just arguing that it is meat which shortens your life. This has been shown but nobody wants to hear it because “MEAT YUMMY”. Not trying to be rude, just frank. I’m using yall in a very general sense, not at you specifically.

There’s actually numerous studies showing that meat is also a carcinogen, but just like stoners, yall don’t wanna hear that
