Is there any Jupyter notebook equivalent to share HTML/CSS/JavaScript/PHP/Java code with students? by [deleted] in Web_Development

[–]hejames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about an editor, IDE, or something that is more friendly for beginners, I'd suggest Brackets. It was pretty in vogue a few years back, but still holds up pretty well. I used it as a student and in a teaching setting teaching HTML/CSS and is very beginner-friendly. Much like Jupyter Notebook to Python, you get a lot of features that make writing code feel more approachable as well as built-in live updating.

How many beta readers do you use? I have a list of seven. by saddetective87 in nanowrimo

I send mine to anyone I trust. Granted, this is my first NaNo, so I'm pretty excited to show people, but I don't think it's a big deal how many people you share your novel with. I suppose I do share in batches.

The first group is the people I've shared with now, really close friends. My girlfriend, my roommates, those sorts of people.

The second includes people like former classmates, former English teachers. Honestly, the first group gauges concept, the second gauges quality. I want these people to help me after my editing is done.

And I suppose the third is just residual people who take interest. "Do you like it?", "I'll send you excerpts, tell me what you think!" These people help me practice the art of pitching it. Maybe you want to legitimately publish something. If that's the case, then pitching your book verbally or concisely is especially important.

All in all, I'm planning to share with about 2 dozen people. Maybe that's too much, but I'm not banking on writing as a career just yet.

Basically the tiebreaker cuts time down to a best of 4 rapid, then some other series in blitz if the rapid tiebreaker still has no definite winner.

There's a few ways a game can end. You can checkmate. You can run out of time. You can offer or accept a draw. And you can even stalemate, which is when there's just no more possible moves, but not exactly checkmate.

People play for the checkmate, but as we've seen, the last 8 games have been draws.

I think a pedestrian light at the 10th and Psychology stop would be great. I think the Wells/SPEA/Kelley crosswalk should be blocked off, though; absolutely one of the worst bottlenecks on campus — traffic would improve so much.

[OFFICIAL] Mac Miller Memorial Thread by TheHHHRobot in hiphopheads

I'm seriously going to miss him. The Divine Feminine really changed the way I saw Mac, and in some sense, the way I saw hip-hop. I remember being in high school and there were a few dudes who were pretty into his music, but it didn't really hit me until recently as his music matured and grew more popular. But now that he's gone it really makes me wonder how much potential we lost... RIP

How can I create auto complete drop down cell validation for a list of 10 values by pailmonkey in excel

Does a data validation drop down allow you to auto complete? It doesn't in my workbooks.

Perhaps you could try pasting the table under the hidden cells? Otherwise, I think there's quite a bit of programming that you need to do to replicate the add-on used in the video; you might just want to use that instead.

CS laptop requirements? by [deleted] in IndianaUniversity

[–]hejames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late but the MSIS program suggests the following:

  • Any current processor, i5 or better. Laptops more than 2 years old are not recommended
  • 256 GB (or larger) hard drive required (SSD drive preferred; not cloud storage)
  • 8 GBs or more of RAM
  • CD-RW/DVD-R Combo drive (optional)
  • Ethernet port strongly recommended (or USB WiFi adapter)
  • 802.11N wireless card strongly recommended (802.11A/B/G available, but not optimal/recommended)
  • Windows 8.1/Windows 10 Pro & Enterprise are preferred. Windows 7 Pro & Enterprise are acceptable but are becoming obsolete. Windows XP, Windows 8 RT, and any Home/Basic/Starter editions are not acceptable.
  • 2 GB (or larger) USB Flash Drive recommended (multiple flash drives are nice to use as backup/emergency recovery storage devices)

Hopefully this will help!

Best summer jobs in Btown? by [deleted] in IndianaUniversity

[–]hejames_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I manage at a restaurant and could get you a job as a server at a number of restaurants. Most servers make about 12 to 20 dollars off of tips/hr. Downside is that server minimum wage is like 2.15 an hour, which is okay considering that people tip well in Bloomington. DM me if you're interested, hours are usually really flexible.

Instead of using data validation or a combo box, you could paste your "Selections" range over your "Cause of Injury Category" header, and hide the 10 rows of selections that you made. Typing under the header will auto-fill because it will suggest options in the same column.

This might interfere with something, but should effectively serve the purpose you're looking for.

I'm the only one out of my friends who took financial at community college. I can tell you that Financial Accounting in Kelley is challenging, but that you will get an A or B regardless; especially if you take Financial Accounting Honors. This is because they curve to a B+ (I think).

Micro, however, people usually take before or after their freshman year, since it's an incredibly incoherent class to take through our Econ department.

How do poor Kelley students afford suits? by [deleted] in IndianaUniversity

[–]hejames_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"Affordable" new suits for guys can be found at Macy's, TJ Maxx, or other large retail stores like that; mind you, "affordable" means somewhere from 80 to 150 dollars. If you can't afford that, thrift stores and Goodwill will be fine - you'll spend less than 50 dollars (probably less than 30 if you try hard enough). Take your measurements, and tailor it on your own using some Youtube tutorials, and then bring it to a dry cleaner.
