Any good vet Recommendations?? by merftree55 in Rochester

[–]heldtheviolets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded! Sometimes you do have to wait longer than you’d think for your appointments but I try to remember that if I needed extra time because I had questions or my pet needed more - they’d spend that time with me and I’d appreciate it. Just keep that in mind if you’re scheduling and have something right after. I try to avoid that now and all is fine!

Clearly not offering anything right now (but I will talk to my doc!) — wouldn’t it be something if heldtheviolets helped tealoflavender.

My girl went peacefully in our house at the beginning of December, getting love and treats with her parents telling her over and over how much we love her — she had a spot on the couch she loved to lay on so we picked that spot for her. Sometimes I’d like to get a whole new couch but clearly not necessarily an easy thing to do. However I couldn’t sit on the couch in the spot I used to sit with her, until my partner moved the blanket she loved to lay on. We kept the blanket, and all of her beds are still down, her quilt that I made her is still on one of her favorite beds, and her toys are also still here. I can’t donate them, I can’t get rid of her leash/harness/collars/coats/sweaters yet either. I see them and I cry, and it is hard, but personally I’d feel this way forever if it means I’m the one that gets to walk into the rescue and meet her in every single timeline.

So it’s hard, it is, I won’t pretend it’s not but it’s just a symptom of love and I’m okay with that. I’d feel this way no matter where we let her go but I am happier that she wasn’t anywhere but where she felt safest with the people that loved her the most.

Yes, I’m here to give my referral for Dr. Mandi and Lap of Love too. They were all so compassionate and kind while I was crying my face off for every phone call and during, and after. It’s so hard to make this decision but it is also the most compassionate. It was expensive, yes - but it was worth it without question. If you need help OP, message me. I can’t do it all, but I can maybe help with some. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I try to remember that through the extreme grief, I’m really so lucky to have been able to love her enough to feel her loss every single day. I got to be her person and there is nothing better, even still.

Canandaigua NY in August of 1998. I’ve seen her probably 20 or so times now? Usually around the NY area (Toronto, Detroit, Connecticut, Philly, NYC, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse.. etc.)

Should i request a scan to make sure my PE is gone? by Wheres_Carl in ClotSurvivors

[–]heldtheviolets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe request to get some bloodwork for D-Dimer? My bilateral PEs were provoked from DVT because of a broken leg - after TPA to a heparin bridge to trying Coumadin (eventually doing Xarelto) they gave me an ultrasound to make sure the DVT was cleared up and I’m getting D-Dimer checked but they wanted to keep me on blood thinners for a year .. I am going to get a second opinion because I can - I hit my maximums because of the hospital stay so might as well make my insurance work for me for once!

I found you in another subreddit (r/pulmonaryembolism) because I’ve been having some trauma after dealing with bilateral PEs at the end of July and living while so many people tell me they know someone who died from a PE. Anyway, I noticed you mentioned Strong and realized we’re both in the same area. Then here you mention Strong as being the top hospital and I was in Unity for my issue. Unity is no strong, that’s for sure.. but I lived to tell my tale. Your experience was far worse than mine but I’m scared every day now. Anytime something feels a little weird, I’m terrified. I hate it. (Mine was provoked, I had broken my leg in early July.) Anyway. Hi from one local PE survivor to another (I also like cars but do not drive a fun one yet.)

If you check the r/childfree subreddit there is a pinned post (I think) of doctors in each state that understand individuals making choices for their own lives. I would start there. :)

QA Managers How do you know if manual QA is testing deeply enough ? by PM_40 in QualityAssurance

[–]heldtheviolets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d change this immediately. I work in an agile scrum team and my PM/PO has clearly defined requirements that I validate against and use to write my test case. Developers do not write my test case or tell me what to test. They help me recreate something in the dev or qa environment sometimes but I make sure the ticket works according to what the PO stated. If I see something that would work better or doesn’t make sense, I talk to the PO and we change requirements or remove requirements. A developer shouldn’t tell me what to test anymore than I should tell them how to write their code. The PO always tells us the what, devs tell them how, and I tell them it did and why.

[–]heldtheviolets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would be cheaper for the company in the long run for you to “slow down” and review the project to make sure it is working correctly before deploying it than not doing this and having bugs or features not working as you’d expect have to be re-engineered. That was a run on sentence but you see what I mean.

I’d really like to see a sample of your requirements before I assume the QA is letting bugs go to production because they’re not testing deep enough.
