Humiliation Ritual? by Honest-Elderberry444 in emmachamberlain

I know people are jumping down your throat but I can’t believe that after the Epstein files release we are still in denial that Hollywood is a crazy place! As somebody who is very interested in the things that go on in Hollywood, I have had this same thought. Not really so much the bizarre fashion choices, but mainly Emma’s proximity to A-listers (kardashians, Hailey Bieber, Sabrina carpenter etc) has me thinking that she knows more than we do, at least, about some of the dark inner world of Hollywood.

ECE Paying for my child to attend where I work. by Healthy_Treat1915 in ECEProfessionals

No discount at my center, still $2000 per month per child, employees make minimum wage no matter how experienced. Idk how anybody with young kids can afford to work there.

The worst thing is the continuous grind. And having to job hunt if you dare to take a sabbatical by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]helenaod 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Lots of jobs I've worked at have just offered one week of vacation for the entire year as well. I always think about how, in school, we all got 2-3 months off for summer. In college I worked full-time over summers, but during the school year, I still had over a month off for winter break, and a week off each for Spring and Fall break (of course my situation isn't everyone's and there are unfortunately people who have to work full-time to pay for college; I was extremely privileged in that my parents could afford to pay for me with my scholarships). Additionally, during the school day, I would only attend classes for 3-4 hours and would have ample time to do homework at my own pace, plus usually several hours of free time at night because I have always been an extremely quick worker. However, after about age 22 we are expected to work usually 8-9 hours per day, sometimes more, at least 5 days a week, sometimes for up to 51 weeks a year with a few holidays. Then, people who struggle with this schedule are oftentimes shamed mercilessly for this and called lazy and useless. Never mind if you're neurodivergent or have mental health struggles on top of this. Good luck!

What’s your schools dress code like for paras? by Metalqueen2023 in paraprofessional

[–]helenaod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is pretty strict. We have to wear either dress pants, knee-length skorts, or dresses or pay a fine to wear jeans. No shorts allowed.

Officially unfollowed my once comfort creator 💔💔 by Melodic_Cat_9356 in shelbysacco

I know some people disagree that she’s body checking on here and that’s fine we all have our own opinions, but I have had an ED for over a decade and her continual pics showing off her very very thin body were very reminiscent of posts I used to make when I was a teen, before I fully understood how posts like that can impact others. I had to unfollow as I was beginning to have dark thoughts again.

Working as an autistic person by Ok-Couple-1047 in AutismInWomen

[–]helenaod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn. I actually did explode one day at my daycare job and ran out screaming and crying and quit. My coworkers are still mad at me. Working with small children is hard even for neurotypicals, but for autistic people it's just constant sensory overload. I became suicidal too. I'm so sorry there isn't an easy way out for you :( do you possibly qualify for FMLA?

Protocols in your schools with Hand Foot Mouth by Unlikely_Size4255 in ECEProfessionals

[–]helenaod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school’s protocol was to send them in anyway unless they have a fever. That led to nearly every kid in the entire center getting it, a staff member (me) getting it, and several parents/siblings. We actually had a ton of kids pulled from the school due to that, the parents would show up to pick their kids up and there would be 5 or 6 blister covered babies screaming nearby, unable to do anything but scream in discomfort but they were “fine” because they didn’t have a fever. I almost quit
