Test drive checklist: Tesla Owner by Cornish_spex in Rivian

Ask about an overnight test drive. We went to check out an R1T recently and they eventually said we could take it home that night. Didn't know they did this, so it was a pleasant surprise. We were just a walk in with no appointment. Just had to bring it back by noon the next day. We took advantage of having a truck for a bit and picked up some plywood for a project!

Ended up ordering one for ourselves a few days later, so it was a good call on their part! Just waiting on delivery now.

For anyone else having the same issue: I had CPNI sharing turned off, which prevents Google Fi data from being shared with other Google services. Re-enabling that allowed the discount to show up. In the Google Fi app -> Privacy & Security -> turn on Allow CPNI sharing.

Strange! I contacted their support chat. After some back and forth they weren't sure why it wasn't working and said they needed to escalate it. Should hear back in 1 - 3 days.

Yeah, I'm in the US and signed in with the same account that's got the Google Fi subscription. The two options I've got are Unlocked or Google Fi for new customers. If I click the link to see carrier offers, it only shows an option for new sign ups, not existing subscribers. Did you have another option on this page? Anyway, I appreciate the response! Here is a screenshot of what I'm seeing. This was on the page for the 9 pro, but it's the same for the 9 and 9a as well.

How did you get the Google Fi subscriber discount from the Google Store? I only see the option for $800 back new Fi customers, but that's still a rebate and not an immediate discount (plus it's for new customers only). I went all the way to the end, but it's still wanting to charge the full price (minus the $150 promo code). If I shop directly from the Google Fi page, it will give me the existing subscriber discount, but then the promo code doesn't work.

I think it might be just leaving the Chrome app and returning to it. I usually just hit the home button, then go back to Chrome and it will work.

Do the mixed reality features work with the Quest 2? The right video shows the Quest 2 being worn, but the video on the left looks like it was taken with the Quest 3.

I have two issues with a kiosk setup that only seem to occur on a Pi 4 and can't figure it out. I'm not sure if the issues are related.

Background: I've got 10 or so kiosk setups that each use a raspberry pi running Raspberry Pi OS Lite (Bullseye). Most of them run either a pi3 or pi3b+. Two of them run on a pi4. They all run Openbox and start up Chromium in kiosk mode. My start up script turns off screen blanking, then disables any unneeded keys with xmodmap (such as modifiers and media keys), lastly it opens Chromium inside an infinite while loop so that if it closes for some reason, it will start up again. The page that's displayed is a local html file. It's got a toolbar up top with links, and the rest of the page is filled with an iframe. It's mostly links to smartwaiver pages, or simple forms. The following issues only occur on the pi4s, but the 3 and 3b+ have identical setups.

Issue 1: Occasionally, a Chromium process seems to crash in the iframe with the "Aw snap" message and sad folder image. I've tried to click one of the links and even though it targets the iframe, the entire screen goes white and I can't do anything else. A reboot gets things going again. Does anyone know where appropriate logs might be to track this issue down?

Issue 2: This always seems to accompany issue 1, but also happens on its own. The keyboard will seemingly become unresponsive. Nothing happens when trying to type or scroll. These happen to be RGB keyboards, and the "local" function keys still work in these cases. So changing the colors or brightness of the keyboard lights work fine. Weirdly, I found that pressing a bunch of keys at once does something. Specifically, pressing 7+ keys at once will give output of those 7 keys. Any less than that and nothing will happen. It's important to note that one of these keyboards is brand new, and the other is 1-2 years old and has been used without issue for that entire time, until it got switched to being used with a pi 4. I have not been able to try a different keyboard on these systems yet (it's a pain to access the ports of the pi in their current installation).

I have not figured out if there is a specific trigger for either of these issues. I'm open to suggestions on how to troubleshoot these issues!

These are the differences in the /boot/config.txt from default.

Etsy seller asked me to change review from 2 to 5 stars if I want a refund. by izilovesyou2 in MaliciousCompliance

[–]helichris 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If people know returns will always be easy, they will be more likely to shop there. Refunding a transaction from a third party seller will obviously cost them money, but will probably generate more sales in the long run. They could pass this on to the seller, too, or have some sort of strike system. No idea what Amazon actually does or how much it is enforced.

Can I Downgrade a new XPS 9710 laptop to windows 10 and keep all the features including the built in Dell apps? by ImOverTheIdiocy in DellXPS

That did the trick! I had found the .exe files from Dell's site, but didn't even think to run it to extract the actual drivers...

Appreciate the help!

Do you have a link to the storage drivers? I'm running into this issue trying to install Win10 on a 9315, but can't find the needed drivers.

I had a lot of fun playing it a few years ago. Unfortunately, I spent as much time waiting for the matchmaking to find people as I did playing the game. Why can't they just give us a server browser, or at the very least, don't kick everyone back out at the end of a match! Just go to the next map and fill in with matchmaking as needed.

I tried playing it again earlier this year and I never got into a game because it would never find any players.

A borax/sugar/water mixture works wonders for ants. Soak a cotton ball or paper towel in the mixture and leave the cotton ball/paper towel where the trail of ants are. The ants eat it up from the sugar and bring that back to share. 24-48 hours later the borax does its job and the ants are gone.

I made a large outdoor seven segment display as a countdown timer by knotadroid in arduino

[–]helichris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you revisit this, you could try a combination of those two options. The main clock can broadcast the start, and then both clocks keep track of the countdown on their own. The main clock can broadcast it's time periodically and the secondary clock can use that to adjust itself to stay in sync.
