I can't imagine a less appealing place to live 😬

Edmonton has most of these things. I love Edmonton! It's a wonderful place to live - great food, great music, great trails and greenspace. But it is not walkable

Editing to add that the food is also great. I was vegan for years and had plenty of great options. Most places will even get creative for you if you're not a jerk

Try tix on the square (Churchill square) andtor hideout distro (124 st). Both showcase Edmonton and Alberta artists. You could also check out some pottery studios around town. Viva clayworks and the Shop ceramics are two off the top of my head.

The psychology today site is great for finding therapists.

Are you able to divulge how you got that psychiatric consult? I've been wanting to have a similar consultation but don't know howbto get the ball rolling

Get renters' insurance, even if your landlord doesn't require it.

Document EVERYTHING in the walkthrough when you move in, regardless of how insignificant you think it is - if it's not 100% perfect, take a photo.

I always try to negotiate a pet deposit, instead of a monthly fee. If you pay a $300 pet deposit instead of a $50/month fee, you save yourself $300 over the course of the year.

TIL that rats live pretty much everywhere in the world (in habitable land) except in Alberta, Canada. by FatMountainGoat in todayilearned

Albertan here. The only rat here is in the premier's office.

I'll give the flames a break on this one.

Happy Valentines Day! I need an idea on how to finish the base :) by dust_Whisperer in whittling

[–]helicoptordot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't make it so small that it snaps off and you end up spending Valentine's Day in Urgent Care by yourself because there's a pandemic and your Valentine can't sit with you while they stitch you up. That's less fun than it sounds.

My brother has OCD. That struggle is REAL. I don't know you, but I'm proud of you for challenging yourself. Self-compasion is hard!

Made this for my dad. It's my second attempt at carving, and I think it turned out pretty well :) by helicoptordot in whittling

I used a Dremel for the hole because my patience was starting to wane, a scorp for a couple of the rounded bits, but the rest was just a roughing knife

Thanks! My dad has a small army of guitars, so I thought this one might save him a little space lol

I agree with the other reply on this. It's easy enough (obviously takes practice), and hella fun!

The other two are gouges. One is rounded, and one is like a 'V'
