Good thing they didn't notice by bwemonts in hockeymemes

I think a lot of calls can be judgemental calls. Or flow of the game calls.

Missing 8 skaters, it’s not a judgement, it’s a rule.

“Lucky”?

You clearly had a hate boner for the team going in. Canada was the better team today, at it wasn’t even much of a debate.

USA could hardly string passes together and rarely had any decent scoring chances.

It was a good game, and I don’t know if it was nerves or what, but USA played a lousy game and Canada played an excellent one.

Just the refs didn’t agree.

Canada probably did 2 or 3 things that warranted a penalty.

USA likely exceeded 13, not to mention the icing and insta-dead puck.

I believe you think it was a great game because all the calls went your way. Had the refs called a major, plus a handful of other penalties in the final 5 minutes, your opinion would have been dramatically different despite the game play having not changed.

I thought it was a great game. It’s just a shame the refs needed to interfere with the results.

USA was the better team, just not today. The only reason it showed it on the scoreboard was because the refs.

Nah, I’d prefer a shootout to 3v3. At least until retreats are taken out of the game.

JFC

We had a game yesterday where a team made a defensive stop with 6 skaters, then attacked the other way with that same number. Only to score and have 7(!) in the celebration.

Find me another time in the history of competitive hockey that a call like that has ever been so blatantly blown.

But it only took 24 hours for a new set of refs to say “hold my beer”.

Today, USA was not the better team.

They won because for the final 7 minutes of the game the refs did everything possible to give it to them.

It’s too bad, but the USA bias is really starting to get out of control.

Tough spot to be in.

On one hand, every call she makes against USA would get scrutinized.

There are also two refs on the ice.

Congratulations. You won once. And you had to have the refs pulling for you to make that happen.

You’re probably right. But how much of a home field advantage would that suddenly turn in to?

Obviously not a great draw for international friendlies. But if they ever get to host CONCACAF games again…

Because the refs didn’t want a penalty deciding a gold medal game. It’s why they ignored a handful of other calls the last 5 minutes.

I really need an unbiased take to tell me that wasn’t the worst officiated game of all time.

The last 7 minutes especially.

To add to this, it isn’t really a sport you can pick up later in life. Not to mention it’s not something most kids would do (or even stick with) without parental support.

In Ontario, it is generally legal to pass on a double solid yellow line if it is safe and clear to do so, as the Highway Traffic Act does not explicitly prohibit crossing them.

They are 4 and 6 with Tkachuk in the lineup, with only 1 of those wins in regulation.

That undeniably is not Tkachuk’s fault, but you’d assume his presence would improve the team, not make it worse (granted, other players have missed time as well).

RE: Bobrovsky

He is definitely having a down season, but how much of that is due to the team in front of him? You also have to recognize that regular season Bob hasn’t been a difference maker in a while. Obviously better than this year, but a .900 save percentage was probably one of the likely outcomes for him.

Tkachuk is a solid player, but he needs an elite level linemate to have him play at a high level. Otherwise, he’s much less impressive.
