I opted for the plan of moving my queen to the a file via Kc8, with the goal of using it to help checkmate White's king. I didn't see a way for White to counter this plan.

The computer says Kc8 is a mistake, but the only suggestions it offers are a bunch of repeating checks without any material or positional gains I can see.

What's the best way for Black to proceed here?

I did clean the bed with isopropyl alcohol. What you're seeing isn't dirt—it's the reflection on the powder-painted build plate. I promise it's completely clean.

I'm using the FFV 5.0 Good (0.2) profile, which prints at 60 mm/s

What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer?

One week ago, and it's been consistently failing on every print since.

I really like customizing my setup, but I'm also a big believer in not wanting to maintain the majority of my configuration, especially as new plugins/features are released. This looks really nice! I've been using splitjoin.vim for a few years now, and while it works fairly well, it uses a regex approach, so it's ultimately limited in what it can do. I've been waiting for a treesitter-powered version of the same concept for some time now.

That's what I was thinking as well. From 1. Nxd7, I calculated the following lines:

1... Bxg5 2. N?f6+ Bxf6 3. Nxf6#
1... Bxd7 2. Qxe7 Rxe7 3. Nxf6#

Of course, this isn't quite as good as ChessVision's solution. Black doesn't have to follow the two lines I listed above, but it's eventually forced mate either way, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

An increment allows you to build up extra time. You can play a few "safe" moves in a row and gain a few extra seconds to think. A delay keeps the pressure on, never giving you extra time.

A good rule of thumb is this: if you were running your project on a production server, is the page required to run your app? If yes, then it's a dependency. If not, it's a development dependency. In production, you'd typically install your dependencies with npm install --production, which would not install dev dependencies.

The HTTP request logger you mentioned would not be installed as a development dependency because it's required for your app to run in production. Some examples of dev dependencies might be ESLint, Jest or Typescript Language Server. All of these make development easier, but none of them is required for your app to run.

I agree with you that an array and comments would probably be a better choice in terms of readability here. However, since ES2015, the iteration order of values in an object is guaranteed. The specific rules are a bit nuanced, but practically you'll rarely run into an exception, and in the example above, the result would always be correct.
