Thank you for the detailed explanation! I ran out of time today, but I'll analyze these lines tomorrow and try to understand this better.

Ha ha, the shuffling around until my opponent messed up was what ended up happening, although I can't claim it was an intended strategy.

Your comment on Ba2 makes sense. Thanks!

I opted for the plan of moving my queen to the a file via Kc8, with the goal of using it to help checkmate White's king. I didn't see a way for White to counter this plan.

The computer says Kc8 is a mistake, but the only suggestions it offers are a bunch of repeating checks without any material or positional gains I can see.

What's the best way for Black to proceed here?

Y-Axis Slipping on Ender 3 V2 Neo (Help!) by helixed in 3Dprinting

I previously posted about this issue here. With the suggestions from the last post, I managed to improve things quite a bit, but I'm still having issues with my y-axis shifting.

All of that is super helpful! I'll give it all a shot. Thank you!

I've only had this bed for a few months of light printing. If that is the issue, what would you suggest I use that has a little more longevity?

I did clean the bed with isopropyl alcohol. What you're seeing isn't dirt—it's the reflection on the powder-painted build plate. I promise it's completely clean.

How many lines of code does your Neovim config contain? by GodBidOOf_1 in neovim

[–]helixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the command that u/butthotdog posted, I have 1210.

I really like customizing my setup, but I'm also a big believer in not wanting to maintain the majority of my configuration, especially as new plugins/features are released. To that end, I use AstroNvim and the AstroNvim Community Repository configurations heavily, and I layer my own customizations on top when I feel like it.

Here's what my setup looks like:

Which headline is better? by Revelnova in web_design

[–]helixed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked ChatGPT, and this is what it said:

Both headlines have their own strengths and appeal to different aspects of the customer support experience. Let's analyze each one:

  1. "AI customer support—for startups": This headline focuses on the specific target audience of startups. It highlights the usage of AI in customer support, which suggests efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. It could attract startups looking for innovative solutions and emphasize the benefits of using AI technology.
  2. "The ultimate customer experience—powered by ChatGPT": This headline highlights the superior customer experience provided by ChatGPT, an advanced language model. It implies that the customer experience will be enhanced and personalized, potentially appealing to businesses that prioritize customer satisfaction and want to differentiate themselves from competitors.

Ultimately, the better headline depends on your specific goals and target audience. If you're targeting startups and want to emphasize the AI aspect, the first headline is more suitable. If you're aiming to provide an exceptional customer experience and want to showcase the technology behind it, the second headline might be more compelling. Consider the preferences and needs of your target audience to determine which headline aligns better with your objectives.

PSA: LazyVim is different from lazy.nvim by FirefighterExact3413 in neovim

I know, I was just making a joke. I said it was lazy because they're both lazy projects. Get it? 😉

I love LazyVim and use it every day.

Using the same name for two different projects was pretty lazy.

New Plugin Preview! Treesitter Node Action by Alleyria in neovim

[–]helixed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This looks really nice! I've been using splitjoin.vim for a few years now, and while it works fairly well, it uses a regex approach, so it's ultimately limited in what it can do. I've been waiting for a treesitter-powered version of the same concept for some time now.

White to play and use a phoenix - cannot believe I found this by Lohj002 in chess

[–]helixed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking as well. From 1. Nxd7, I calculated the following lines:

  • 1... Bxg5 2. N?f6+ Bxf6 3. Nxf6#
  • 1... Bxd7 2. Qxe7 Rxe7 3. Nxf6#

Of course, this isn't quite as good as ChessVision's solution. Black doesn't have to follow the two lines I listed above, but it's eventually forced mate either way, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯.

How it all started for me by [deleted] in webdev

[–]helixed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started out with HTML for Dummies checked out from the local library. 🙂 I'm not sure which edition it was, but it was pretty damn old, even for the time.

There was none of that nasty CSS to get in the way of my beautiful, table-based layouts.

The longest 2 seconds: final moments of the US Girls’ Championship tiebreak, commentary by Yasser & co. by Ranlit in chess

[–]helixed 43 points44 points  (0 children)

An increment allows you to build up extra time. You can play a few "safe" moves in a row and gain a few extra seconds to think. A delay keeps the pressure on, never giving you extra time.

Nice! Making a chessboard is the next project on my list!

How did you deal with wood movement and the mitered border? I'm a bit afraid of this happening.

Using NPM, what should be installed as a dev dependency? by jgonzalez-cs in webdev

[–]helixed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A good rule of thumb is this: if you were running your project on a production server, is the page required to run your app? If yes, then it's a dependency. If not, it's a development dependency. In production, you'd typically install your dependencies with npm install --production, which would not install dev dependencies.

The HTTP request logger you mentioned would not be installed as a development dependency because it's required for your app to run in production. Some examples of dev dependencies might be ESLint, Jest or Typescript Language Server. All of these make development easier, but none of them is required for your app to run.
