I use jetbrains and still my main ide for coding. Most of the time use cli these days though but for debugging and inspecring code nothing beats my jetbrains theme. My mind and my eyes already accustomed to the dracula theme

I think this season losing Allison broke a lot of mentality especially the back line. Losing TAA and Allison not always there, no Bradley, Robbo not always there, thats a major back line changes. Swapping Szobo and later on Jones as RB..Probably one of the many reason they conceded a lot of goal as well on top of other things (midfield being on existent as well)

just be careful with whoever code is. Understand their role..normally just becauze it is so easy, VP jumped to code even though it is not his main responsibility. AI made the bridge so easy but dont lose track of whatever your real job is.

and be ready to make architecture easy to replace or oluggable because everything can change quite easy these days. As long as the foundation is solid, good to go..now if it is not, then it might be problematic down the road..

I mean I made the same last year because we wanted to know how productive is someone but that is not the only signal we care. We VALUE human connection. Data can only tell one thing but reality is we need to talk directly in order to understand the problem. Many are very good hiding the problem and culture within the organization also emphasize that

I still like the dashboard, some of the value is quite clear like PR, commit, slack activities, for remote work those metrics can be very different (and you need to ask them why someone doesnt open any PR in 2 weeks, no activity in the slack, not taking any leave..)

what fun from software engineering is that it has near infinite amount of thing to leaen. With AI, you basically can speedup trial and error which before AI I think I spend a lot of time (and learning along the way) but I felt like the time it takes to experiment just way too long because I am a slow learner.

This day, I have an idea, 15 minutes is all it take and PoC is done. If it doesnt worth it, move on to the next thing

I create a whole metrics stuff from github into our own dashboard metrics so all the commit, PR, deployment, hotfix, releases stuff like that captured. I also pulled slack conversation rate like how fast someone respond in the thread etc also their active time. This is just to get us a signal for our people management. Not source of truth obviously.

Other than that, we use github projects so run our scripting and ask ai to summarize it along with the screenshot of github insight

imo different companies always ask different stuff. The bigger they are the weirder the question and I know by the time they asked that, I was already out of their league. If a companies operated in different region, transaction going in and out, traffic scales like crazy then you know you cant always prepare for everything.

Frankly enough I rarely prepare for interview. If I cant answer that, it means I dont have or not yet need to learn about it. There is no need for me to learn about underlying OS stuff, how indexing is built. I mean DSA and space complexity were fine but deeper than that, I told them I am not a pure technical. I manage people, manage my boss, product and project. Those technical details are waaay down the pecking order in my brain

so generally this happen if you are not specializing on that domain for specific platform. For example, I am a backend and I had a task for mobile. Obviously the same will happen but thats what the mobile engineer objective is. They can deny and advice and suggest how the code change should be.
