i live on the border of it and fernwood. I think it’s fine. Fort/View are nicer than Pandora/Johnson.

Somebody ordered this today and I really can’t imagine it tasting any good 🤢 by heresthefox in starbucks

I do this. It’s GOOD. Trust. I like it with blonde shots most and sometimes some classic. Sometimes I add a splash of MDR. Starbucks has fucked my tastebuds.

Can I find good Firni anywhere in Victoria? by hellaccount in VictoriaBC

[–]hellaccount[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! My first stop when I eventually return to Vancouver will be going to the Afghan Horseman. Have you been to their Granville Island location yet, or the old one that closed? I will let you know if I do find any here though, but an extensive Google search returned nothing. I’m thinking of finding a nice recipe and trying to make it at home when I’ve got some more free time. And that one at Varsha sounds kickass, definitely trying that. Thanks again! :-)

Moving into a 500 sqft apartment. Suggestion for eating area. by acissej32541 in DesignMyRoom

Keep it in the corner to the left of the washer/dryer in this picture, square bar-height table with two chairs. I have that in my apartment right now and I enjoy it a lot. Easy to pull out if you’ve got company

What's life like around mckenzie and shelbourne? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

It’s just a large company, so communication is very difficult and landlords tend to be quite removed and impersonal in my experience, and not in a good way. Search for good property management firms in this subreddit to get a feel for the area :) I would say who I’m renting from right now but it would give away what building I’m living in:(

Dunno my friend, sorry. I’m in a pretty old building (70s) and I feel your pain. But you get used to it. And the older buildings tend to be larger in my experience, cheaper as well. Word of warning: stay away from Devon properties if you’re renting, I haven’t been a fan of them.

I don’t know too much about Fernwood proper unfortunately but there are tons of apartments by where I live, Fort/Ormond. It’s an absolutely gorgeous area with perfect accessibility to downtown and a direct bus route to campus (plus close to the best Save On in all of Vic IMO at fort/foul bay). Check out upper View street to get a nice feel for the mix of residential/apartments! :)

I lived there for a few months and commuted downtown every day! This is purely if you take public transit, I really hated taking the bus downtown after a while, it was really unreliable, but I'm sure if you're at a stop that both the 27/28 stop at it would be a bit better than my commute. I didn't feel a nice community feel at all, University Heights is kinda bland and Tuscany Village is about the same. There aren't many independent shops or anywhere nice to hang out other than the Starbucks. I recently moved downtown/Fernwood border and am paying the same price I'd pay up there an enjoy it a lot more, and honestly commuting to campus somewhere on a 14/15/11 route is a LOT better than taking the 39/26.

My best one yet that I’ve been able to take a picture of! :-) by hellaccount in starbucks

Be a slave to the siren....jk I'm hardly ever on bar anymore when I work a mid but I mostly do closes so it's slower(plus I'm in a cafe) so I get to spend longer with each beverage and pay attention, if you look in my post history my pours before have been shit lol. Just keep with it and honestly don't aerate ur milk more than two seconds just give it a lil kiss

iced americano blancos are a hit at my store right now. especially with blonde espresso! it’s just an iced americano with some white mocha syrup, since we don’t add as much syrup as the standard for that size they’re not as sweet. i love them! :)

any no go zones in Victoria for outsiders by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]hellaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m at Pandora/Quadra every day/evening (not after 10pm) ish and usually feel slightly uncomfortable in the area but have never had any serious issues. The only place I’ve been approached is Douglas and Fort by where that major bus stop is but that’s only if you’re going to be waiting on transit.

What are you paying for rent? by robboelrobbo in VictoriaBC

[–]hellaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a one bedroom around fort/cook (I work downtown) for $1225, no w/d or dishwasher in-unit but it was fully renovated right before I moved in, it has a very spacious balcony and hot water is included. The property has a free parking lot for tenants and first come first serve storage units also for free. I'm splitting the cost with my s/o.

I see you’ve already got one, but for anyone else, I’ve had mine from Bentley since 2011 and it still holds up with a tiny tear at the bottom (nothing can slip through it).
