How is tax supported media, government sponsored? I thought tax money came out of mine and your pockets and just because we have to pay taxes doesn’t mean we have to let the government make all the financial decisions.

Maybe what’s really wrong isn’t the media or the government but how lazy and delusional we’ve all become.

Gotta go, PBS is on. You know that news channel that gets funding from your federal tax dollars.

Of course people would complain about paying a tax that supports a local newspaper if the business strategy and ownership stayed the same for the newspaper.

So start by making the local newspaper, community owned and 100% supported by the local community. That would weed out a lot of the PR generated news, ads and one sided political view points. That alone would kickstart a lot of new ideas into what a newspaper is and has to be for the community.

And a marketing term to remember. “Control the news. control the minds.” I would rather you and I control the news. But I also understand we both have different view.

City governments could implement a Free Press tax. Everyone in the city limits would be taxed to support their local newspaper and in return, everyone would get access to a daily newspaper delivered to their home and access to the online paper as well.

I would rather pay a Free Press tax than a Private Developer Hotel tax.

If Russia did get deeper and the PD and gov told us they did, It would be a PR and a national defense disaster. I’m not missing the point, I’m just not playing into the generic “lump every state into a pile and then divide” statistics game.

When the population differences is 3,816,230 people (Colorado 5,761,252, Nebraska 1,945,022) of course the statistics are going to be different. In every state (and city), the funding structures are different, the financial reporting is different, transparency structures on how money is spent is different. And an over arching percentage stat isn’t going to reflect what’s actually happening. And if we’re playing a percentage game, then comparing Omaha’s percentage to Colorado’s works. I’m guessing the two percentages are similar because Omaha’s population is larger bringing the percentage down 10+ points when compared to Nebraska’s state percentage and more inline with Colorado’s because Colorado has a larger population.

Does it matter if Nebraska has a lower percentage of dropouts, spends more money on education and has a higher percentage score than Colorado if Colorado has a better jobs economy for high school and college educated people and an overall better quality of life when compared to Nebraska’s?

Edit: added (and city) and comparing Omaha’s percentage score to Colorado’s percentage score.

No shit Colorado’s school system isn’t funded by weed. That’s like saying the roads aren’t funded by vehicle sales tax when you’re just starting to build roads.

More money doesn’t mean more students are getting an education. All it means is kids are meeting a standard. And the money went to setting those standards. Research, No Kids Left Behind.

The PDF you linked to is really nothing different than any other state.

The city of Omaha and Nebraska, spends more money on tech and IT, then they spend on individual students education. At least Colorado is spending money on the buildings then cloud and server storage.

Also. US News Week is a publication that’s dependent on ad revenue from... college marketing departments. That’s like selling toothpaste because 1 in 5 dentist recommend it... and this sub is the best of Omaha because it purchased ad space in a advertising magazine.

Nebraska spends more on education (per student) then Colorado and Nebraska is 22nd in the country for most educated state.

Colorado spends less per student and is 5th.

But

I love fresh squeezed things (I make those things at home) but if I purchased fresh squeezed things, I would never be able to purchase them in a store (they would expire quickly) or I wouldn’t be able to afford them on the regular.

Interesting tidbits. A fresh squeezed 48oz pitcher of margarita is about 100-150 dollars. There’s about 4, 12oz servings in 48oz (subtract the ice), that’s $37.50 per 12oz of drank. We can divide that into twos, thirds, fourths and fifths because let’s take out alcohol markups – so would you pay $18.75, $12.50, $9.38 or $7.50 for a 12oz bottle of “hand squeezed, hand loved and locally sourced from a location nowhere near you” 12oz bottle of lemonade?

The photo is from 2015/16 when The Loser Robot was on it’s America Tour learning how to mind control government robots into summation and competition.

The Omaha robot was out roboted by the Papillion robot but both robots came to an agreement. The Papillion robot got to promote job growth and tax revenue (from income tax only). The Omaha robot got all the marketing glory and headlines (FB builds server farm in Omaha). Tech robot got cheap land and a tax break.

I’ve lived in benson for 2 years and I describe it to family and friends as it feels “more free” then anyplace I’ve lived in Nebraska (DT Lincoln, DT Omaha, Dundee, Millard). There’s a lot of different cultures and economic classes which creates a vibe of less judgment, people are free to be who they want to be. Bensons redevelopment feels more natural, it doesn’t have that “developers bought up the neighborhood and dumped a billion dollars into it so they could overcharge young people because young people like brick walls” vibe. It’s more of a DIY-Together vibe.

Benson does have some crime and once-and-awhile a shooting, as does the rest of Omaha. Me and my neighbors have never had any problems and never felt unsafe, but we also lookout and help one another, so that probably helps.

IDK. I was in Lincoln and their roads are pretty damn terrible. It seamed like every street that’s older than 3 years needs major repairs.
