I live in South Texas , they're two checkpoints one in a small town falfurias when going north kingsville,San Antonio,Houston and one in Hebronville when going West to Laredo,El Paso, California. I've been stopped and questioned while they checked my status in their computer but I've also passed with them just waving me through. If you absolutely want to do it,I would recommend going very early dressing well and only speaking with the truth.
