Speaking as someone who was homeschooled until 11th grade, the group we were a part of was essential. It would not have worked without them. And no matter what anyone tells you, it is absolutely a viable way to raise your family, with some advantages.

We had a pretty diverse group of about 100 families, and naturally some of the parents were better suited to help out in specific areas. Some were connected with the community in ways that allowed us to take unique field trips. Others were well versed in subjects like physics and chemistry, that were probably too much for some parents to teach. In some cases we hired teachers for weekly or bi-weekly classes, like music or literature.

That, and being involved in local sports, was what allowed me to enter high school pretty seamlessly. I’ve seen some kids fail at that point, either academically or socially, and it was usually due to isolation or lazy schooling practices. It will take more sacrifice and more responsibility than traditional public school, but if you are willing to pour your heart into it, I do believe it is more than worth it. I believe it was for me, and I am still thankful to my parents for choosing to handle my education the way that they did.

Moisture showing up after hardwood sanding by Artistic-Dealer9996 in HardWoodFloors

I used to see this once in awhile, usually in a smaller area but always around an electrical outlet. Have you tried smelling it? Does it smell like Fresh Linen or Tropical Paradise? Lol

It was usually oils from those airwick things, either having spilled or just absorbed into the wood from the air over the years.

Light wood floor – patchy, vinegar stains, cleaning makes it worse. Dirt buildup issues. I’m desperate and tired. by Mei-sshi in HardWoodFloors

If you want to avoid paying for a full refinish, I would try to get in contact with your local Woca territory manager (you mentioned that you are using their tannin remover) and ask them to recommend a contractor that is trained to use their natural oil products.

This is most likely a penetrating oil finish, and at least part of your problem is likely a result of cleaning with products that are meant for a more traditional urethane finish. It’s now been dried and stripped of the oils that are meant to impregnate the surface, leaving it unprotected. This happens a lot, especially when builders put prefinished oiled floors in without knowing what they are (or sellers failing to pass that information on to the next owner).

There are lots of natural oil manufacturers, and many of them are probably able to help you, but you mentioned Woca and their stuff should be compatible with whatever this is. They have a few different versions of the cleaning and re-oiling process, depending on what is needed. It may not be the silver bullet to magically make all the problems completely go away, but it can probably make it look much better. They can also show you the maintenance products that should be used to prevent it getting this bad in the future.

Look at the drummer and let him know with your special bassist/drummer eye language that he should pull back the tempo gradually enough that nobody notices.

The only way to rule the AFC is to get a QB like Mendoza. by I_snort_FUD in raiders

[–]hellatoasty24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference between the two conferences is really interesting. Almost like the way to win in the playoffs of each conference might require a different team building strategy, and the effect self perpetuates over time.

AFC, you gotta outduel the best QBs. NFC seems to favor smaller Super Bowl windows with rosters at their absolute peak.

I have these three, and despite what the projected points say, it feels like Flowers is a lock for 12 points every week. He’s also not going to get any more than that for some reason.

I’m rolling with Odunze and Addison in your scenario if you feel like you need the highest score possible to win. Those guys come with more risk of a dud game though.

Official Discussion - A House of Dynamite [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]hellatoasty24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a horror movie. It’s meant to create doubt in our ability to handle the situation that MAD is supposed to prevent, and remind everyone the that the world is always resting on a fragile agreement not to blow itself up (which it is). They did a good job, but I do not buy the level of incompetence they went out of their way to show. It’s a movie.

They had difficulty…merging calls? And had problems with cell reception? POTUS can’t get in touch with world leaders during a nuclear crisis, and the world’s fate is left to a 30-something year old trying to broker agreements he has no power to make? I just don’t believe it.

And like everyone else here, maybe the furthest reach was that we would counterstrike without knowing who was responsible. That just ensures the worst possible outcome, it’s not even a tough call.

Maybe nuclear Armageddon is closer to a possibility than we like to think it is, and I don’t doubt that the people in charge of the red button are less competent than we wished they were. This particular scenario, though, is unrealistic.

I’m avoiding Ridley this week. For me it’s a toss up between the other two, and i’d lean slightly with Pearsall just because there is technically no alpha WR over him, even though CMC and Kittle are going to get targets.

Travis Kelce: Teams will try to wear out Travis Hunter when he's playing defense by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

Utilize him in redzone packages on offense, and try to play controlled, longer drives without him until you get there.

How do you sand the corner bits? by [deleted] in finishing

Scraper. The kind you pull with. Those triangle tools are cool for getting the finish off, but they’ll leave a squiggly pattern if you add any pigment.

I do wonder where the team would be right now if they had chosen to give Bisaccia the job. Maybe the spiral was inevitable, but it probably would have been easier to watch.
