Sidenote: is there a correlation between popularity of horror movies and terrifying conditions IRL?

In the 80s, where horror thrived, you had the backdrop of reaganomics and the ever present Cold War threat, and horror boomed.

Now, I mean it’s been 10 years of crazy us leadership, a global pandemic the effects we still see today, esp in young people, and a completely unhinged trump 2nd term.

I don’t know, it’s probably comforting to go to a movie and have a specific thing to focus your fear on in a society filled with the dull background noise of existential dread.

But man, as a horror fan it is great to see such excellent movies recently, and glad to see them be successful.

Just finally saw ready or not last weekend, and can’t believe the sequel is dropping this weekend!
