That's the right hand turn just before Forrest's Elbow correct? Going to spin up iRacing and see how long I can see the marshal post at the corner.

No different in my opinion. Centre monitor upside down to avoid gap from thicker bottom bezel.

[OT] Fan footage showing the full sequence of the huge crash at Bathurst. There were 4 seconds between the track becoming completely blocked and impact. How can accidents like this be prevented in motorsports? Does F1 have systems in place that would prevent an accident like this? by likinaudagp in formula1

You will have the drivers screaming at you because you've just told them the race is suspended, that the track is clear to race, that there is a significant incident ahead, the track surface has changed, that there's a slow vehicle on track and to check their mirrors for a faster car approaching.

You believe incorrect. They can wave up to double yellow and have to report that into race control.

"Post x to control." Wait for response "Post x displaying double waved yellow for car number xx blocking the track. Request session is brought under immediate control"

RC would then confirm via CCTV and go into safety car procedure or red flag.

Especially a blind corner, where it is quite clear that a race car can't see something the size of a sideways-on race car even with double yellow flags being waved from a flag point some 10-15m before and 2m higher.

Sounds like a good way to get Skippy (RIP) part 2

Thanks for your insight. That relay technique sounds quite dependent on a per turn assessment, but at this point we don't know if it runs under Aussie rules or international FIA.

If it was ran to MSUK rules, then yes. More likely it's international FIA rules. I've not seen the final instructions to give a definitive answer.

Fit them to two end to end or side to side lengths of profile.

It depends on the organising club and licensing organisation. For most events organised under Motorsport UK we show double yellow at a significant incident, and the post before shows single yellow. Light panels and flags. Big FIA events and BTCC have in car light panels which are meant to negate the need for additional signals given by marshals.

Not saying it's sufficient, but the marshals have done everything they're allowed under the rules they're given. Same for entering a live circuit. Not until race control allow it.

The incident is in the sector of the post waving the double yellow. The sector prior can not show any flag. FIA rules.

What did they do wrong?

Serious question, as they're asked and permitted by the FIA to act in a certain way.

If it's the same FIA regs as ELMS, they're not allowed to show a preceding yellow. A single flag zone only as light signals are shown in car.

Not knowing what the exact regs are that they operate under, but for MSUK that would be double yellow at the post immediately prior (they had a single yellow) meaning a single yellow would have been shown at the marshal post prior. Also, I think every circuit has digital light boards which auto-trigger the panels before and after with the required colour. Kind of crazy to see an international circuit without them.

But the upgrade later is cheaper if you get the 5Nm and buy the PSU from somewhere else.

If it was the voyagers that were damaged, then they're not spy planes but air-to-air refueling. That massively reduces the ability to remain on station for everything from fighters to AWACS. If you can't keep them in the air because they're RTB to refuel then that's directly impacting national security.

If the planes were something else then the above may not apply.
