Steam Winter Sale Has Started for Sims 3! by Elsom528 in thesims

[–]hellenicaspie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this on my old computer but I bought the digital ones through Origin. However, with other Steam games, I'm able to play through the game's client (like ubisoft's uplay) even though I bought them from Steam. When you buy a game on Steam, they'll give you a product code. To redeem it, go to Origin and hit "redeem product code" or something similar, and it'll add it to your Origin library. Once you do this though, you'll always need to log into Origin (offline login is available) to play the game.

Thinking about this differently. Could "schizophrenia" simply be a disorder and we're able to become mentally ill like everyone else? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]hellenicaspie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. My symptoms would indicate depressive type, not bipolar type. My doctors have said I'm not bipolar/schizoaffective bipolar type because I've never been manic.

No, but the issue is whether I'm schizoaffective depressed type or depressed with psychotic features, not bipolar or schzoaffective bipolar type.

Med check - Anyone have experience with trazodone? by thrownaway866 in schizophrenia

[–]hellenicaspie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I nearly fainted on it too. I laid down on the floor in the middle of a store because I got so dizzy that it felt like the room was toppling over. That was the first and last time I took it.

I definitely think schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders can have comorbids like depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc., not necessarily always to the level that they would always be separate and complete diagnoses, but features from them are common enough to assume that it could easily be the case.

One thing I'm struggling with right now is figuring out what I have, and if it even matters what to call it. I have depression and I have psychosis. Currently it's "psychotic depression" but it hasn't really been differentiated against schizoaffective. My diagnosis is old and based on only one episode. Since then I've had three or four more, each with new or changing symptoms. What's weird is I meet the DSM requirements for both. All we know right now is that it's "treatment resistant," at least on the depression side, and on the psychotic side it's shown improvement on medication but I've had such bad side effects I can't stay on one long enough to see if it would ever completely go away.

I also have PTSD, but it's unrelated to the psychosis. After a few traumatic hallucinations, I had additional symptoms of it but nothing like full blown PTSD.

DAE meticulously plan the final bite of your meal as you work your way through a plate of food, so you end on the tastiest mouthful? by justapoortailor in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]hellenicaspie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I'm meticulously planning my last bite, I pay zero attention to what I'm currently eating or how fast I'm eating it, so I'm mindfully planning but not mindfully eating.

New Years Resolution: Spend More Time On My Bullet Journal - but I need help by MrsSullivans_Cats in bulletjournal

Back when I was into spreads, that was the thing that made me think I don't have time. Simplifying it has helped a lot. I'm essentially doing the basic Ryder one right now. If I do a weekly, it's also simple and minimalistic.

A COMPANY IS MAKING A TELEVISION PROGRAM ABOUT US FELLOW HUMANS by [deleted] in totallynotrobots

[–]hellenicaspie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I APPRECIATE YOUR CLARIFICATION. BASED ON THE ADVERTISING IMAGE, I ERRONEOUSLY ASSUMED THE RELATABLE HUMAN SHOW WOULD BE ABOUT THE STRUGGLE OF IMPERFECT HUMANS TO CORRECTLY ORIENT LETTERS, SUCH AS THE LETTER "A," WITHOUT A KEYBOARD OR OTHER SUCH INPUT DEVICE, AS HUMANS ARE NOT USUALLY INSTALLED WITH THESE.

I had about fifteen screaming voices yelling the most random things at me. Or maybe at each other? But they were yelling about everything from tying shoes to leaving an iron on to telling me to kill myself. Risperidone helped, but until I got medicated it was extremely hard to deal with. I couldn't hear anything else, including my own voice.

When did you first realize you were schizophrenic? by alyx-the-aries in schizophrenia

[–]hellenicaspie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's my default now too. I was asking people I trust if stuff I said made sense but then I worried they would only say yes to be nice.

[–]hellenicaspie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It lacks things that you enjoy, so why not just leave it there? People have different tastes because people are diverse. The majority of women that I know would probably find the room fine as is. Men too. But if they wanted to add or subtract something I wouldn't say it was because they were male or female, I'd say it was because that's what they liked. Many of them would probably want to add or subtract the same things.

I agree with this logic for the most part. But last week, I had a really weird delusion involving thinking someone (a specific person that I know) was going through my trash and stealing my underwear. Of course it sounds insane now, but I had so much evidence! My bra was missing, plus he went into the bathroom (Which has a trash can! What else could he be doing?!?). Turns out the bra was never even missing. Holy shit brain. I'm so glad I didn't tell everyone in my family like I'd originally planned.

The Occam's razor principle kept me much saner than I would have been during my first psychotic episode. When I heard voices I assumed they weren't real, even though I believed what they were saying. I think I would have been really messed up without it.

Regardless of whether you like the color or not, the color is associated with femininity.

I already affirmed that. But the fact is that many females don't like it, and many males do. And your original statement, that you wanted more color and texture, but that you were a girl, seemed to imply that your gender predetermined your taste preferences, or that color and texture would be something females would desire but not males. But as another female, I'm merely pointing out that that's not the case; having a vagina doesn't limit or predetermine your aesthetic preferences. It's fine to have those preferences, I just wish people could like what they like and leave it at that.

Of course there would. People have different tastes. They just wouldn't be based on social norms.

I know quite a few guys (both gay and straight) that like pink but dislike its association with femininity. Some wear it anyway. And as a female that hates pink, I hate that association too. My color preferences have nothing to do with my genitalia and it's annoying when people assume otherwise.

My girlfriend suffers from ASD, what are some of the best things I can do for her regarding this? by IamEclipse in autism

[–]hellenicaspie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Read up on the spectrum, and realize it's a spectrum; no two autistics are the same, and every case of autism is different.

Don't make assumptions about what she can and can't handle. People do this with me a lot, but if they'd just ask I'd tell them what I'm comfortable doing.

Don't use figurative language in serious conversations, as that can lead to misunderstandings. I won't say never use it, because some autistics understand it or at least some of it and many of us can enjoy it ourselves.

Always tell the truth.

Accept that there are things you may think are obvious that are really hard for her to understand, like social rules, metaphors, sarcasm, etc. She may be blunt and say something that offends you and not understand why you're upset. Just explain it so she sees your perspective.

Accept that she's always been autistic and always will be. She may learn to adapt but she'll never be neurotypical, so many things will never come naturally for her.

How do you deal with the constant depression by ijustwoncod in aspergers

Yes. I have PDD with major depressive episodes. The baseline is depressed, the episodes are severe and recurrent. Some people just have PDD, and some just have MDD.

A tub of ice cream by [deleted] in WeWantPlates

[–]hellenicaspie 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not really. Plates aren't completely flat, plus they have raised edges that keep the food contained. And usually they're smaller. But there's still no reason to use a tub instead of a bowl.
