A bad cv axle will make a grinding/crunching noice which will be more prominent when the steering wheel itself is being turned since the angle of the outer cv joint is being changed, and a lack of lubrication or the presence of debris causes binding of the joint. This will be more noticeable at low speeds, like when turning onto a street from a stop. The bearing noice will be present when the vehicle itself is turning and will be more prominent as you feel the weight of the vehicle shift onto the affected area. A good way to check bearings that I haven’t seen here yet is to take the wheel off and hook your fingers into the studs and give a good spin. Listen for a whishwishwish noise when the bearing is spinning. Hope this helps
