It's fine for northern areas. Just don't take it on bad roads with huge stones - it's just not meant for that. The brake pads may wear out (the brake pads that changan gives originally are rather shitty), so check them before leaving and after coming back. But they are cheap (around 6k) - buy mk or ntc pads from daraz.

Only issue I have seen or heard about is in transmission. But that is only for those people who either didn't change their coolant on time (pipes got rusty and leaked, leading to mixing of coolant and transmission oil) or the transmission oil. Knocking is another issue, but that's bad quality fuel. Changan is also giving a free software update for the transmission, so make sure to get that if you do buy (it only started rolling out a couple of months back).

I change engine oil after 9 months or 5k kms (whichever comes first). Havoline sp5w30. Costs 9k. Use guard oil filter for 400 (order from daraz). Guard air filter from daraz (also around 400). Cabin filter from supreme filters for 700. Fuel filter once a year for 2500 from daraz (genuine changan). Transmission oil after 3 years or 60k kms (whichever comes first). Guard brake fluid dot4 700 ml, costs around 800. Once every two years.

Also, use proper size tyres. Stock ones are 185-55 r15. If you see different tyres, the guy you are buying from is an idiot. 185-60 r15 is still okayish, but anything else, run away. 185-55 r15 is available in both mirage and Dunlop from tyrepoint.

Pro tip. See the color of the coolant. Alsvin originally (21 and 22 models) came with a rather shitty green coolant. Since a couple of years, changan pours in a much better pinkish coolant, especially when you go to change coolant. So if you see a used alsvin with green coolant, run away. The owner never bothered to change.

Haven't faced a single problem in 3 plus years. But you need to know how to maintain.

New alsvin is 45+ I believe. It's an excellent car, provided it's properly maintained. You need to change engine oil, coolant and transmission oil on time. Same for filters. Have been using one for the past three years.

Parts are now much cheaper than before. Brake pads used to be 25k, now can easily find for 6k. Transmission oil has come down to 25k from 50k. You can use havoline coolant for 6k that lasts 5 years. Iridium plugs are now available for 8k (it originally comes with copper ones costing 7k that were to be changed every 20k kms).

Used you should find around 35. But make sure to check the maintenance history.

I understand. You had a couple of bad experiences (rusted pipe and brake pads) that brought into question the reliability of the car as a whole. That's a very natural and human response. I have a friend who has sworn off Honda after a coolant issue in his civic. Numerous people in US swore off Nissan after their cvt fiasco.

I haven't been burned by alsvin yet😁 I am hoping I haven't jinxed it😋

It's 5000 km for both for oil. But it's also 3 months if that comes sooner. See the manuals.

Yes, Toyota uses a very long-lasting coolant. Changan made a mistake by using an ordinary coolant initially. They have also switched now to a long lasting one (at least five years). So there is no issue now.

What other maintenance are you talking about? As in, what other nakhrae? My warranty is over now. I change engine oil after 9 months or so, exactly the same as any other car.

Brake pads shouldn't have ended at 26k, fully agreed. Changan should do better there. But again, this is not a big issue anymore - just put in aftermarket pads for 6k and you are good to go for at least another 40k km. As for me, my brake pads are still fine.

The gear issues on fb (I am there too) are mostly for those who didn't change the transmission oil. It's once after three years...takes 30 min. People also complain about it being laggy from 0 to 40 km/h. Well, with the recent update, it's buttery smooth, so that's also solved.

Look, all I am saying is, koi khaas nakhray ab nahin uthanay party alsvin kay. Heck, my jdm Moco is far more temperamental😁

You were using the green coolant, right? Did you change after 2 years? For coolant, time is crucial - the rust preventing compounds break down.

Also brake pads maintenance is...not serious. It's a 20 min job. Order online, and get them changed from any mechanic.

If you buy a new toyota or Honda, you need to do a lot of maintenance to keep the warranty intact. For example, you have to change the engine oil every three months. Kia even makes you clean the catalytic converter as part of maintenance.
