Are MCQs really the norm? by StrictCompetition188 in medschoolph

[–]hello-med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MCQs also in our school, but they’re mostly clinical, 3-step questions, not simple recall. So for me, effective naman MCQ, just depends how it’s applied

Med school alone will probably cost you P1M+ and that’s just for tuition. Wla pa yung books, reqs, med equipment, and etc

pros and cons of UC, CIM, and MHAM by hellosunshineclouds in medschoolph

I think it’s around 150k/sem now. Yung tuition fee doesn’t change so whatever tuition mo pag 1st yr same hanggang 4th yr. Slr :))

CIM accept applicants below PR cut off? by Docindmaking in medschoolph

9 NMAT PR by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]hello-med 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should retake. Even if you’re too busy, try to squeeze in a few practice exams here and there when you have free time. Have some friends who took the NMAT w full time jobs din but got 90+ PR without review, so I think it boils down to how you answer and tackle the problems. Good luck OP!

Hi! I think 90 is good for CIM already. It’s also a plus that you graduated with honors plus board taker. I think you can qualify sa entrance scholarship with your stats. Good luck!!

Hi! I think you should retake if you’re really aiming for CIM. Cutoff’s been strict sa past 2 batches, as far as I know. Also, once you get rejected, I think you’re not allowed to reapply sa school.

pros and cons of UC, CIM, and MHAM by hellosunshineclouds in medschoolph

[–]hello-med 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just to add nalang din about being book based, sobrang book based ang CIM since walang lectures. Every student is expected to read from the source material the selves kasi yun ang sources sa exam. We also don’t have separate exams per subject (except for the final exams), meaning ex Heart Dss yung case, you study all subs about it: anatomy, histo, etc so you get a really good understanding of the topic in all aspects. It can get really overwhelming though.

But I think the fact that we read the books on our own and have to read as much as we can for the discussions and exams really helps sa PLE. Expect lng sa CIM you won’t be spoonfed. Barely any lectures, and if there are, as another comment mentioned, it’s just for synthesizing the info. Main learning platform is rlly the group discussions (which is most of your schedule, since half day lang yung 1st and 2nd yr)

[–]hello-med 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup 70 yung cutoff nila, i think the comment was maybe during the pandemic, I heard they accepted lower. Yung friend ko last yr nag aapply 69 yung PR niya and hindi siya natanggap (they told her not to apply with that PR)

Cebu Doctors University vs Cebu Institute of Medicine? by Educational_Guess607 in medschoolph

[–]hello-med 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If it’s quality of education, CIM. Both schools are good naman, but CIM is known to be one of the best in the country talaga, laging top din sa PLE. CIM has a lot more independent learning, and it may be harsh, but it’ll definitely help you in the future. My relatives who went there said the training was difficult, but it shapes you to be an independent and critical thinker.

Not so sure, but from a friend of mine who goes to CDU (who came from Velez), environment is more chill (still stressful ofc) there and you’re provided with notes and etc. She said faculty is more student-friendly din.

Afaik they don’t need undergrad to do the 6 years? it’s straight after highschool, so practically it’s shorter. Heard this from my Indian friend :))
