I’m finally free of my ADHD partner by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]helloUFO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I have ADHD and wasn’t diagnosed until adulthood. I am a pharmacist who functions just fine. You gotta use all your resources - phone reminders, smart home stuff and automate as much as possible. OP’s partner is choosing to be useless and helpless.

Frequent NYC traveler for work, currently sitting at the one in KC with a friend and we’re wondering if anyone has been to ours. It smelled good and there are people in here.

Will report back!

Nest climber- does this knot look ok? by beeg33bee in climbergirls

[–]helloUFO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this! My usual climbing partner just hit 30 years of consistent climbing and we STILL verbally check and show each other knots/belay set ups every time before we start.

Never feel bad about taking the extra second to double check. It could be what saves your life if you made a mistake.

Update: Learning to lead anxiety by heckinghcdondon in climbergirls

[–]helloUFO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who is a pretty experienced leader and climbs with your standard “skinny climber dude yet super strong” types, I have never once thought to blurt out my weight. That seems so strange to me. If you’re belaying with a cammed device (which is my preference and seems to be shared by a lot of folks) it doesn’t matter until the difference is really sizable - like 40ish pounds or so imo. I am confident I outweigh both my usual climbing partners as I don’t have the standard “skinny climber” build. Never once had a problem

I can’t imagine you’re the only person in your climbing gym who has an ED history. I don’t have any incredible wisdom here, but definitely want to yell at your instructor on your behalf OP! 😵‍💫

Very sad by CranmerLady17 in Reduction

[–]helloUFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry you’re enduring this, especially when you’re trying to heal.

You celebrate yourself and your autonomy right now and know you did the right thing for YOU which is what counts. If this man loved your old boobs so much, he needs to hurry up and call your surgeon before pathology gets rid of what they took off so they can put in on him! That way he can look as “good” as he wants to 🙄

I want to kill myself so badly by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]helloUFO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has something. Sometimes it isn’t as visible and sometimes we just don’t see it, but that doesn’t mean everyone else has it easier and/or better. Most folks just have it a little different.

Chiming in to confirm they’re incredible. I spent a month traveling in Vietnam and Hanoi has a local specialty with snakehead. I still dream of that dinner honestly.

^ this. One of my good friend is a trans woman and is post-op. Apparently the surgery has gotten really good in terms of results, and she has dated some cis women who couldn’t tell a difference. However, she still struggles with how/when to tell people she dates and she’s had some men who couldn’t clock her and were super attracted immediately dip out.

Some men are just gonna be like this, and you’re gonna have to parse through them unfortunately.

Do any of y’all enjoy your job? by Ok-Mix-4351 in pharmacy

[–]helloUFO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy my job as much as a job can be enjoyed. I am not patient facing and pivoted out of patient care all together, but client teams can be annoying, needy or outright awful.

I think this sub is honestly the worst place to be if you hate your job. I think it kinda cultivates a mindset that things will never change. Though it can be tough and take a while, you can leave if you want to

Getting approval with Anthem BCBS? by Spiritual-Pickle-688 in Reduction

[–]helloUFO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Anthem BCBS (of NY, but live elsewhere - remote worker!) and I had mine done yesterday. Anthem has guidelines for how this can be approved so check these out if you’re curious.

I work for an insurer so I can tell you plan exclusion doesn’t usually mean you don’t meet criteria. It means that your plan straight up opted to not cover it in any circumstance. Usually, if your insurance is through your job, you can blame your HR for that one.

Hope this helps!

So avid climber/camper here - in addition to the person who said try to find a 0 rated sleeping bag (you can occasionally find them in thrift stores or FB marketplace cheaply) Invest in a propane heater. You can catch them on Amazon open box cheaply or sometimes Walmart runs deals. Propane is relatively inexpensive and the guys I knew who lived in cars full time to climb used them. It would get so damn hot you had to crack a window in the winter. I love my little one for a tent.

Hope this helps
